NWP 4-01.4WARNINGWhen making up return loads of nestabletubular steel pallets, a minimum of 6 palletsmust be used.NoteThree loads of pallets may be returned in thesame lift, if there is sufficient clearance tolift the load clear of the pickup area. In thiscase, attach the hoisting sling (six attachmentpoints) after the loads are spotted onthe VERTREP platform.10.10.8.2 Nets and Pallets. (See Figure 10-20.)1. Spread one net on the VERTREP platform, centeredon the VERTREP lineup line or behind thehover limit line.2. Stack 4 or more wooden pallets or 6 or morenestable pallets in the center of the net.3. Pull the bottom net up around the entire load andsecure the rings or corners with a becket.5. Attach a hoisting sling (one attachment point).10.10.8.3 Cargotainers. Return cargotainers byfolding them and placing them inside one cargotainer;place extra straps and slings inside the one cargotainer;but save one sling (four attachment points) to connectthe load to the helicopter’s hook.10.10.8.4 Hoisting Slings. Return hoisting slingsby threading the slings on the flexible leg of one slingand hooking the leg back upon itself. (This is the onlytime a sling leg is hooked to itself in this manner.)
