NWP 4-01.410.6 VERTREP PREPARATIONSPlan a VERTREP operation several days before theactual flight operation. From 3 to 15 days before ascheduled VERTREP, distribute issue documents forcustomer ships to the cargo-hold captains. Hold a replenishmentplanning conference to develop a cargo breakoutplan. From 1 to 3 days in advance of the scheduleddelivery, begin breakout, strikeup, pallet assembly, andPENDANTASSEMBLYprestaging. Stage as much cargo as possible near theVERTREP area before the actual operation begins.WARNINGRemove all foreign object damage (FOD)material from the VERTREP area prior toflight operations (see Figure 10-12).10.6.1 Load Preparation. The primary concernwhen preparing loads is to provide a load that ridessafely in flight and arrives at the receiving ship undamaged.VERTREP loads differ from CONREP loadsin that they are subject to extremely high winds fromrotor downwash during hover and during the flight betweenships. The detailed procedures in NAVSEAS9750-AA-MMA-010 for preparing ordnanceloads for VERTREP can also be used for preparingother types of loads of similar configuration.10.6.2 Pallet Assembly151.00 + 3.001.
