If the receiving ship is providing the litter, thedelivery ship will send over only the protectiveframe, fully rigged, with the 3/8-inch (9.5 mm)toggle pins and spring-steel keeper pins installedin the 1/4-inch (6.4 mm) flat iron shackles. (SeeFigure 8-4, detail “A”.)(3) BOTH SHIPSIf the receiving station is a fixed-padeye receiving station:1. Delivery ship will send cargo drop reel withcargo drop reel hook extended far enough toplace litter/protective frame within reach of receivingstation personnel.2. Receiving ship will pull cargo drop reel brakerelease lanyard and pull litter/protective framedown to proper location, then release lanyard toset cargo drop reel brake.(4) DELIVERY SHIPSend litter/protective frame to receiving ship.(5) RECEIVING SHIPPosition litter and passenger under protective frameand attach litter to flat iron shackles on frame using3/8-inch (9.5 mm) toggle pins secured with spring-steelkeeper pins. (See Figure 8-4, detail “A”.)WARNINGLitter must be attached to protective frameflat iron shackles using 3/8-inch (9.5 mm)toggle pins secured with spring-steel keeperpins. Have 2 to 4 personnel lift litter as cargo drop reelhook retracts.3. When litter is as high as personnel can lift it, releaselanyard to set cargo drop reel brake.(6) DELIVERY SHIPHaul in litter.8.4.9 Unrigging Procedures1. Return trolley to delivery station.2. For inhaul winch with slip clutch only: Setwinch in tension control.3. For Navy standard hauling winch only: MoveSPEED control handle to haul-in HALF SPEEDdetent; leave in detent.4. Lower transfer head.5. Remove the transfer chair or litter and retrievethe messenger/outhaul.6. Raise the STREAM transfer head.7. Detension the highline (see paragraph 6.9.4 (5),steps 1 through 4). Prior to tripping the pelicanhook, the delivery station rigs a lizard line to thehighline and belays to ensure proper fairlead ofhighline into trolley.WARNINGThe receiving station must not trip thepelican hook until the highline is slack andthe signal has been given by the deliverystation.8. Retrieve the highline.8.5 EMERGENCY BREAKAWAY PROCEDUREFOR PERSONNEL STREAM RIGEmergency breakaway is an accelerated breakawayusing the standard procedures in paragraph 8.4.6. Thefollowing procedures also apply:1. Retrieve personnel on the highline expeditiously.2. Clear the station of all nonessential personnel.3. Stop all transfer immediately.4.
