If the hauling winch used is a Navy standardhauling winch, the 3/4 inch (19.0 mm) wire ropefrom the hauling winch inhaul drum will be usedas the inhaul.2. If the inhaul winch is equipped with a slip clutchon the inhaul drum (see Figure 8-5), the wirerope from the inhaul drum will be used as theinhaul. Prior to use, test operate slip clutch in accordancewith label plate on winch.3. If the inhaul winch available is not Navy standardor is not equipped with a slip clutch (see Figure8-6), a hand-tended synthetic line will be used asthe inhaul. This line is described in paragraph 9.2.2.NoteIn the procedures in paragraphs 8.4.3 thru8.4.9, the steps required for the three differentinhaul arrangements are noted.8.4.2 Outhaul. The receiving ship will use theSTAR messenger (described in paragraph 2.3.5 andshown in Figure 2-9) as the outhaul. The STAR messengeris sent over by the delivery ship.Ensure that the 60 foot (18.2 mm) releasingline is disconnected at the brummel hooksand that the 7/8 inch (22.2 mm) safetyanchor shackle is inserted through the 5 inch(127.0 mm) soft eye splice beside thebrummel hook at the 740 foot (225.5 m)junction for attaching the STAR messengerto the STREAM trolley or the outhaulpendant. Under no circumstances shouldthe 60 foot (18.2 m) releasing line be usedfor personnel transfer.8.4.3 Preparing Personnel STREAM WithHand-Tended Outhaul. See Figures 8-2 and 8-3for transfer chair details. See paragraph 8.4.8 and Figure8-4 for transfer by Stokes litter.(1) DELIVERY SHIPCAUTION1.
