NWP 4-01.4immediately pass the word to the delivery station:“Do not tension at station ___ .” The rig captainshall immediately instruct the winch operator tostop tensioning, slacken, and tend the span wire.(7) RECEIVING SHIP1. Haul in on the messenger. When the probes getnear the receivers, haul in the probes until theyseat in the receivers. When the probes snap in,the receiver latch indicator flags (Figure 3-27)will raise. This indicates that the probes are engagedin the receivers.2. Once the probes are properly engaged, install theshort strap, and then slack the messenger anddisconnect it at the inhaul link pip-pin (Figure3-7). Connect the remating line to the inhaul linkpip-pin. Secure and fake out the remating lineand remove the short strap. Do not take a strainon the remating line. The remating line is used toreseat the probes in the receivers, should theprobes disengage. A remating line under tensionwhile the probes are seated may damage theprobes’ latching mechanisms and will allow fuelto spray if the probes unlatch inadvertently.Failure to use short strap while connectingremating line may result in injury to personnelas a result of inadvertent disconnectof probes.3. Stand clear of the rig.4. Signal the delivery station: “Start pumping.”(8) DELIVERY SHIP1. Advise the bridge and cargo control: “Station___ ready to start pumping.”2. Commence pumping fuel.(9) RECEIVING SHIPCAUTION1. After fuel transfer has started, disconnect themessenger return line from the messenger returnline pendant and connect it to the brummel hookon the long section of the STAR messenger.2. Signal the delivery station to haul in the messengerreturn line.3.11.4 Operating Fuel STREAM With DoubleProbe(1) DELIVERY SHIP1. The saddle winch operator positions all saddles fora smooth flow of fuel through the hose and tendsthe saddles. The retrieving saddle whip (No. 1)shall be tended slack during fueling operations toprevent an excessive load at the receiving station’sfuel connection. The outboard saddle winch (No.2) is tended to keep the hose bights out of the water, prevent kinking of the hose at the receiving station’sfuel connection, and prevent excess strain onthe hose and stress wires.2. Haul in and coil down the messenger return lineand messenger.3.11.5 Retrieving Fuel STREAM With DoubleProbe(1) DELIVERY SHIP1. Stop pumping.2. Complete the blowdown or back suction and secureall valves. (See paragraph 3.9.1.6.)(2) BOTH SHIPSSignalmen signal: “Replenishment completed at thisstation. Commence unrigging.”(3) RECEIVING SHIP1. Disconnect the remating line from the trolleycarriage.NoteAt a single-probe receiver, leave the releasingline attached to the trolley carriageand with small line (6-thread or marline), tieit off to the probe, prior to signaling thedelivery ship to heave around. Tend thereleasing line clear of the ship’s side.2. When advised by the delivery station’s phonetalker, operate the manual release levers on thereceivers to release the probes. Signal the deliverystation to haul in the hoses.3-42 ORIGINAL
