Single Probe and Receiver3.7.4.1.3 Receiver Hose Assembly. The receiverhose assembly is a steel-reinforced, 7-inch(177.8 mm) diameter hose with a male hose couplingand adapter to 8-inch (203.2 mm) flange connector atone end and a female hose coupling at the other end. Itis 8-feet (2.4 m) long and connects the receiver to thefuel riser.3.7.4.2 Double Probe. The double-probe fuelingcoupling consists of two fueling probes and two receiversas shown in Figure 3-7. See NAVSEA TechnicalManual 0955-026-8010.3.7.4.2.1 Double Probe and Carrier Assembly.The double probe and carrier assembly consists of a trolleycarriage and two tube and probe assemblies. Eachtube and probe assembly for the double probe is identicalto and interchangeable with the single probe. Hoselengths (Figure 3-8), the 19-inch (48.3 cm) centerline dimension(Figure 3-8), and the adjustment of the stresswire bridle (Figure 3-9) are critical for successful seatingof double probes in double-probe receivers.3.7.4.2.2 Double-Probe Receivers. The doubleprobereceivers consist of two receivers and a specialbase plate with a built-in swivel feature that permitstracking through the full working range of the receivingstation. A receiver hose assembly (described inparagraph 3.11.1.3) connects each receiver to its fuelriser. Each receiver has a handle mounted on the housingto provide a means of disengaging the probe at thereceiver. Latch indicator flags on each housing indicatewhen the probe is fully engaged in the receiver(see Figure 3-27).CAUTIONUse only the remating line for seating andremating the probes. Do not use hogging-inlines to assist in seating the probes due to thedanger of damage to the probe frame or fuelspills.3.7.4.2.3 Double-Probe Receivers Using SingleProbe. The double-probe receivers can receive asingle probe (Figure 3-10) when the single probe isequipped with the special inhaul clamp. See NAV-SHIPS Std Plan 80064-803-2252874A. This clamp ismounted in place of the lower half of the existing outboardclamp. It has a pip-pin for securing the messengeror remating line to the probe. The special inhaulclamp allows the messenger or remating line tofairlead between the two probe receivers to the messengerfairlead block.3.7.4.3 Combined Quick-Release Couplingand Valve (Robb Coupling). The Robb coupling,shown in Figure 3-11, consists of (1) a male end attachedto the fueling manifold on the receiving ship and (2) a femaleend secured to the end of the hose sent over by thedelivery ship. Couplings made of steel or bronze may beused in F76 and F44 hose rigs.The female end is a slightly tapered tube with a splitclamp coupling adapter at one end and a machinedgroove near the other end. The spring-tensioned ballrace in this groove lines up with the groove in the3-9 ORIGINAL
