He is the symbol ofhappiness. He is the light indarkness.Atalji became the first non-Congress prime minister ofIndia. When he became the primeminister, it was not the Sanghbut he himself said with firmnessthat he was a swayamsevak ofRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.He is a man of commitment.When Janata Party was formed,Jansangh was merged in thenational interest but when thequestion of dual membershipwas raised he said in categoricalterms that the place wherechildhood was spent cannot beforgotten. He categorically statedthat they were associated withRSS and will remain so for ever.The ones raising objections werefree to decide but our stand isclear and cannot be changed.The result of that firm ideologicalcommitment is today provingbeneficial for the nation. The kindof ideological deterioration thatis seen today in politicians raisesmany questions. Atalji stood firmDecember 16-31, 2011 8through every test. He stood bytruth. He always spoke his mindwith clarity of thoughts butalways accepted the collectivedecisions. He neverconsidered the post of primeministership bigger than that ofthe reputation of India. Thequestion was of a single vote buthe said that to remain in the chairof prime minister through horsetrading was not acceptable tohim. In democracy we shouldkeep the standards establishedby our forefathers intact. What isthe situation today? CanCongress led UPA governmentwhich survived on “Vote forCash” claim of such highstandards? Atalji was such apersonality who even questionedNehru in the parliament as oneof its young members.The Atalji and Lalji ( ShriLal Krishna Advani) duo wasunparallel.
