Top of the day was achieved for a 2 year old Black Hereford Steer for NJ Baker &Son of Sidmouth at £1360, followed closely by Charles & Ann Down of Newton Abbot who saw smart pens of Limousin& Simmental 2 year old steers hit £1300 apiece, with others at £1165. Francis Clements of Crediton saw £1260 for asuperb 21 month old British Blue steer with the best of his run of 22-24 month old Simmental cattle at £1205. Threequartermeat Aberdeen Angus steers for Richard Weeks of Dawlish reached £1110 while 19 month old Aberdeen Angussteers for Morris & Russell Retallick of Newton Abbot reached £1040 with others at £1015. Adrian Bowden ofDrewsteignton fetched £1250 with a three-quarter meat Hereford whilst Jez Wilkinson of Poundsgate saw the best of hisrun of Limousin x heifers reach £1020 for 22 month old animals. Ivor Taylor of Okehampton presented well-bred andfarmed yearling Blonde d’Aquitaine x heifers and saw his best reach £890 with others at £790 apiece. Top of the day was £368 for a Limousin Bull from Mr T Squire of Crediton who also solda smashing run of Limousin Heifer calves and topped the Heifer section at £355 with others to £325 and his 8 Heifersaveraged £283. Other Limousin Bulls sold to £328 for Eric Kingdom & £320 for Mr AW Harris & Son, both of Tiverton.Young British Blue bulls sold to £310 & £305 for Mr M Trick of Crediton. A super run of young British Blue x Friesian 4-5 month old stirksfrom David Snell of Cullompton saw the best steers just shy of £600 with others at £480 & £455 and good 4 month oldCharolais’ to £530. The same owner saw £455 for a good 4 month old British Blue x heifer. Michael Weeks of Exetersaw the best of his Limousins to £570 and heifers to £495.Cattle vendors are reminded where pedigree native breed bulls have been used, please provide the registered pedigree name of thesire by writing the pedigree name clearly on the entry form.

Henry Bond of Bovey Tracey topped with White Face Dartmoor hoggs at £75.50, £68.50 & £65.50,mature sheep from the same home reached £68 & £57.50. A good run of Jacob & Dorset x hoggs from ECF & M Ltd ofBraunton reached £67.50, £67, £64 & £63 (x3). All forward averaged £61.82.34 GRAZING EWESTexel x ewes to £78.50 on behalf of Laura Vallis of Bradninch, a Scotch ram to £75.50 from Henry Davis of Chagfordwho also had hill ewes at £53. Tom Samuel of Tedburn St Mary reached £68.50, but the trade of the day was 13 Soayrams at £56 apiece from Ms J Killen of Yeoford. Average £57.52.361 COUPLES (171 EWES with 190 LAMBS)A very decent entry of couples met with a large audience of buyers who were selective in their purchases. Top price of£182 for 6T Mule doubles from Tom Samuel, with other FM doubles from the same farm at £172 & £165. Ray Tucker ofBroadclyst sold his best three pens of singles at £148 with another pen at £145. £145 was also called for Mule hoggsingles from Martin Chatfield of Cheriton Bishop while Jonathan Barons of Longdown sold 18 flock age Texel ewes with23 lambs at £141 an outfit or £61.90 a life. A good run of Suffolk x hoggs with Charollais lambs from Brian & JessClothier of Radstock sold to £132, £128 (x2) & £125 with Mules at £130. Overall average of £132 an outfit or £62 perlife.110 PIGS – 10.30AMAuctioneer: James Morrish 07814 01013328 CULL SOWS & BOARSA good entry of sows & boars sold to a competitive but slightly easier trade, in line with national trends. Sows to £178on behalf of J Dunning of Drewsteignton, closely followed by Richard & Vicky Gibbins of Poltimore at £177 & £168 (x2).R Harvey of Bovey Tracey made £168 of his Black boar with plenty sold around the £150 mark.44 PRIME PIGSBest of the prime to £152 for heavyweights from P Renouf of Exmouth with more heavies again from R Harvey at £146.The lighter weight prime saw a good run from Richard & Vicky Gibbins sell away to £138 (x2), £136 (x2) & £134. Leaneror smaller sorts harder to place.38 STORE PIGSPlenty of interest in the stores saw a top of £38 for both A Wotton of Kingsbridge and J Chadwick of Exeter. Smallweaners to £26 for S Rendell of Cornwood and nothing less than £18. A Black sow with six met spirited bidding and soldfor £140 on behalf of P Parker of Ashburton.
