Love Story –the movie was nominated for seven AcademyAwards and Segal won a Golden Globe for hisscreenplay. Oliver’s Story, the sequel to LoveStory was published in 1977, the movie wasreleased in 1978. His other novels include <strong>The</strong>Class, Doctors, Acts of Faith, Prizes and FairyTale. He taught Classics at Harvard, Yale andPrinceton, and wrote the screenplay for <strong>The</strong>Beatles Yellow Submarine amongst others.Segal also wrote musicals, songs, and was adedicated runner—competing in the BostonMarathon 20 times.STEPHEN CLARK (Book and Lyrics) Bornin Nottingham, Clark considers Derbyshirehis home county where he went to TuptonHall Comprehensive School. He then went toDartington College of Arts in Devon and laterstudied with Stephen Sondheim at OxfordUniversity. Clark’s plays include awardwinningStripped (Circle <strong>The</strong>atre, Chicago),Takeaway (Lyric Hammersmith and nationaltour) and Making Waves (Stephen Joseph<strong>The</strong>atre, Scarborough). His musicals includeEyam (Old Fire Station and <strong>The</strong> Bridewell),Forbidden City (Esplanade <strong>The</strong>atre, Singapore)and <strong>The</strong> Far Pavilions (<strong>The</strong> Shaftsbury <strong>The</strong>atre,London). Clark’s musical theatre adaptationof <strong>The</strong> Mahabharata opened at Sadler’s Wells<strong>The</strong>atre, London before touring Britain. Hereceived an Olivier award for his lyrics forthe re-worked version of Martin Guerre forCameron Mackintosh, (U.K. and U.S. tours).Stephen also wrote the book and lyrics forZorro, (U.K. tour, <strong>The</strong> Garrick, London andFolies Bergère, Paris, Moscow).HOWARD GOODALL (Music and AdditionalLyrics) is an EMMY, BRIT, Gramaphoneand BAFTA award-winning composer of choralmusic, stage musicals, film and TV scores, andWho’s Whoa distinguished broadcaster. In the theatre hismany musicals, from <strong>The</strong> Hired Man withMelvyn Bragg in 1984 to Love Story in 2010,have been performed throughout the Englishspeakingworld from the West End to Off-Broadway, winning many international awards,including Ivor Novello and TMA Awards forBest Musical. <strong>The</strong> Hired Man had its Americanpremiere at the <strong>Walnut</strong> <strong>Street</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre in 1990.In recent years he has been England’s first everNational Ambassador for Singing, the ClassicalBrit Composer of the Year and Classic FM’sComposer-in-Residence.
