To the Brahmins Iappeal that they must work hard to raise the Indianpeople by teaching them what they have, by teaching outof the culture that they have accumulated for centuries.It is the duty clearly of the Brahmins of India to remember that they are really Brahmins. As Manu says, t,Ll"these privileges and honors are given to the Brahminbecause with him is the treasury of virtue." You mustopen that treasury and distribute it to the world. It istrue that he was the oldest preacher, as he has been called,to the Indian human races, because he was the first to giveup all for the higher realisation of life before others couldcome. It was not his fault that he marched ahead of theother castes. Why did not the other castes understand anddo likewise ? Whydid the others first sit down and belazy, and make the race between the hare and the tortoise?But it is one thing to gain an advantage, and another thingto preserve it for evil use. Whenever poweris used forevil it is diabolical ;it must be used for good. So thisaccumulated culture ok t ages,of which the Brahminhas been the trustee, h^ must now give to the peopleat large,and it was because he did not give it to thepeople at large that the invasion !.happened.It was because he did not open this tre r .,ury to the peopleat first, that for a thousand years we are trodden under
