NREGA in PratapgarhThe National Rural Employment Act-2005 (NREGA) is a People’s Acttowards the realization of the right to work. Its main motive is to provide a legalguarantee at least 100 day’s of employment to every rural household whose adultmembers are willing to do unskilled manual labour through which it is expected toenhance people’s livelihood on a sustained basis by developing the economic andsocial infrastructure in rural areas.National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has been launched in the firstphase on 2 February 2006 in the district Pratapgarh (UP) along with 22 other districtsof the State.DISTRICT – PRATAPGARHDistrict Pratapgarh comesunder Allahabad Division and it islocated 60 Km. from Allahabadand surrounded by districtSultanpur in North, Allahabad &Kaushambi in South, Jaunpur inEast and Raibareily & Fatehpur inWest. It was established in 1858and with its head quarter “Belha”. The name is synonymous with Belha Devi Mandir,which is situated on the bank of river Sai.
