Purolite ® Product BulletinNuclear Grade Ion ExchangeResins for Power Generation__1Nuclear Grade Ion Exchange Resins1

Purolite ® Product BulletinNuclear Grade Ion Exchange Resinsmacroporous cesium and cobalt selective SACresin, to enhance performance. The layeredapproach can also be used with final polishing mixedbed resins such as Purolite NRW3560 and PuroliteNRW3460. Purolite NRW5010 can also be used onCVCS beds during full power, on reactor water andspent fuel cleanup beds.Purolite NRW3562 is a 2:1 ratio by volume (approx4:1 equivalent) mixed bed resin composed of themacroporous SAC and the non-porous, clear gelanion and is designed for use in SGBD and specialpolishing of radwaste streams6. Nuclear Grade Mixed Bed ResinsPurolite nuclear grade mixed bed resins incorporatethe same diversity demonstrated in our range ofnuclear grade cation and anion resins. This allowsusers to economically achieve conventionalpolishing objectives, or to address the more rigorousapplications found in steam generator blow down, condensate polishing, and spent fuel pooldemineralization. The mixed bed products include the economicalPurolite NRW3240, a combination of gel SAC andporous gel SBA, and Purolite NRW3260, acombination of gel SAC and non-porous, clear SBA.These products are recommended for use inmakeup and radwaste final polishing, and are usedin systems where regeneration may be required.Purolite NRW3460 is recommended for polishingapplications where higher capacity and good kineticsare required to control low level impurities such as inRWC and CVCS. Purolite NRW3670 is acombination of a very high capacity gel SAC and aType I non-porous clear gel anion for use in highpurity polishing systems such as BWR condensatepolishing and RWC.Purolite NRW3540 and Purolite NRW3560 aresignature products of Purolite, incorporating acombination of the macroporous SAC with eitherporous or non-porous clear gel anion resins. Theseproducts are well established in the industry and areused in all demineralizers within the primary andsecondary systems especially CVCS, cleanup beds,SFP, RWC, SGBD. Purolite NRW3550 consists ofmacroporous SAC and macroporous SBA resinsand is used where anion resins require good kineticsand resistance to potential organic fouling such as incondensate polishing and radwaste treatment.Purolite nuclear grade polishing mixed bedcomponents are combined in chemical equivalentratios (unless otherwise specified) for maximumoperating capacity. Other cation-to-anion ratios areavailable on request for condensate polishing andother specialty applications.7. Purolite Services and SupportThe Purolite field sales and support team is thelargest in the ion exchange industry. With extensiveworldwide coverage, via a network of fully supportedlocal sales offices, the technical support offered toour clients is enhanced by production flexibility andproduct availability. This has allowed Purolite tobecome a leading resin producer for the worldwidenuclear industry.Purolite field sales and technical support teams areavailable to assist with resin selection, productapplication, plant problems troubleshooting, optimizing efficiency and developing cost effectivesolutions. Manufacturing and processing facilitiesare globally positioned to assure security of supplyfor safe and efficient nuclear plant operation. Globalsourcing contracts are in place to secure rawmaterials along with confirmed secondary source ofsupply. Quality control and assurance are backed bythe latest ISO 9001 certified operations and areregularly audited by nuclear support organizations.Continual assessment and updating of testingfacilities and methodology is addressed across allmanufacturing and processing areas. Worldwideresearch laboratories support quality control andstate of the art manufacturing.NRW Bulletin 19012010 5
