General Purpose SwitchModulesMost VXI test environmentsrequire general purpose switchingcapabilities to enable and disableparticular I/O circuits, especiallyduring fault analysis routines andsubroutines. ASCOR generalpurpose switch <strong>modules</strong> are idealfor low frequency switching andpower switching applications.These VXI Switching Modules aretailored for maximum flexibilityfor system integration. The <strong>modules</strong>are all C-size with up to 96 SPSTForm A relays rated at 5 amps 250VAC, as well as 48 SPST relaysrated at 10 amps 250 VAC or 48SPDT relays rated at 5 amps 277VAC, each meeting requirementsfor high current switching in ATEsystems. They are the industry’shighest density general purposeswitches and include Models3000-2, 3000-12, 3000-42, 3000-43and 3000-53/53A.Shielded Relay Scanner& Matrix ModulesASCOR’s shielded relay scanners,such as the Model 3000-3and 3000-8, are ideal for generalscanning purposes, includingDigital Multi-Meters (DMMs).Using shielded relays in scanneror multiplexer applications wherethere are a large number ofchannels will provide excellentsignal isolation and low crosstalkcharacteristics. Channels areindividually controlled for maximumversatility. When usingshielded relays, ASCOR coaxiallyties the relay shields to a separateanalog ground plane in order toensure minimal crosstalk andsignal interference.The switch matrix <strong>modules</strong> areavailable from combinations of2x128 single-wire (3000-34) to2x128 (3000-44), 4x64 two-wire(3000-45) and 8x32 two-wire(3000-47). Bandwidths rangefrom a low of >40 MHz to a highof >90MHz ensuring a low noiseenvironment. If crosstalk is nota major concern, most of theshielded <strong>modules</strong> are also availablewith non-shielded relays.High Frequency Shielded CoaxSwitchesASCOR offers a variety of HighFrequency Coax Switches. All ofthe Coax Switch VXI <strong>modules</strong>use internally cabled switch pathat 50 ohms. Also available uponrequest is a 75 ohm switch path.The ASCOR Coax Switchesinclude matrices from 2x32 at>350 MHz for the worst path(3000-5) to 1x8 multiplexers at>500 MHz (3000-32). Theseswitch <strong>modules</strong> are ideal for usewith oscilloscopes, frequencycounters and other instrumentsthat require clean coax signals.


SERIES 3000 VXI MODULESMicrowave & RF SwitchModulesASCOR builds numerous RFand microwave VXI <strong>modules</strong>.Our RF <strong>modules</strong> start with theModel 3000-54 (12 1x4s at >1.3GHz) and extend through ournewest 3000-515 (16x12 RF Matrixat >900 MHz for the worst path).The 3000-55 is also available asa dual 4x4 matrix, the 3000-55A.Our microwave switches areprovided with ASCOR’s unique“pluggable” capability designedto ensure maximum flexibilityin switch selection and minimal(Mean Time To Repair) MTTRin the event a switch needs to bechanged or replaced. Availablein two-wide VXI <strong>modules</strong> andthree-wide VXI <strong>modules</strong>, the3000-200s are available in eitherDC to 18 GHz or DC to 26 GHzperformance specs as well asself-terminated versions.Special ModulesIn addition to our switch<strong>modules</strong>, ASCOR offers a numberof “special” <strong>modules</strong> designed tomeet the ever demanding requirementsof our customers, from theModel 3000-4 relay driver module(128 general purpose 5, 12 or 24volt coil drivers) to the 3000-62with its optional mix of up to 256TTL I/O, CMOS, Differential andOpen Collector Drivers in a singleVXI slot. ASCOR also offersspecial VXI <strong>modules</strong> such as the3000-46, that supports both digitaland analog signal switching, andthe 3000-39, that is capable ofsupporting a high level of I-levelor intermediate level switching.(Please read ASCOR write-upentitled “Programming VXISwitching”).ASCOR also designs andmanufactures custom and semicustomVXI <strong>modules</strong> for a numberof special customer-definedapplications. Feel free to contactASCOR if you have a special VXIrequirement.All ASCOR standard VXI <strong>modules</strong>include VXIplug&play driverswritten in C++ using LabWindowsCVi and operating under WIN95 orWINNT. All ASCOR VXI <strong>modules</strong>are Register-based and includeVXIMAX 16/32, ASCOR’s exclusivecapability to operate our VXI<strong>modules</strong> in either 16-bit or 32-bitdata paths.VXI DMM With M-ModuleThe ASCOR Model 3801 is a onewide, C-size VXI card which comesstandard with a Digital Multimeter(DMM) and the capability of addingan industry standard M-Modulemezzanine card.The on-board 6 3 /4 digit DMM is ahigh performance Digital Multimeteroptimized for a variety of applicationssuch as automated production testing,control and data acquisition, portablefield testing, laboratory automation,disk drive testing and resistancenetwork testing.


There are two types of DMMsavailable with the Model 3801.The standard DMM provides thefollowing measurement capabilities:■ DC Volts and Current■ AC Volts and Current■ Resistance: 2-Wire and 4-WireEach function provides at leastfour ranges of values. Accuracy onthe DC Volts and on the Resistancefunctions is better than 0.0004%.The extended capability DMM( DMM/LCR ) provides for all thefunctions listed above for thestandard DMM. In addition theDMM/LCR provides the followingadditions capabilities:■ Resistance: 6-Wire Guarded■ Temperature: -150° C to +650° C■ Leakage Current: 1nA to 3300nA■ Capacitance: 1nF to 10 mF■ Inductance: 1uH to 3.3H■ Peak to Peak, Crest & MedianVolts■ Timing Functions: AC/DC Voltage& Current Sourcing■ DCV Source: -10.0V to +10.0V■ ACV Source: 0v to 20V P to P■ DC Current: 1.25uA to 12.5mAThe 3801 also has the capabilityof mounting a single industrystandard M-Module mezzaninecard. These units provide functionslike Analog to Digital Conversion(A/D), Digital to Analog Conversion(A/D), Universal Timer/Counter( UTC ). Any industry standardM-Module may be used. M-Modulesprovided by ASCOR come completewith a software driver provided.Other M-Modules not providedby ASCOR Inc. will require the userto provide their own software driver.As with all ASCOR VXI Modules,The Model 3801 is a register-baseddevice. The software drivers thatare provided are written usingLab Windows CVi and are writtenin C++.System IntegrationIn addition to the multitudeof VXI <strong>modules</strong>, ASCOR offersSystem Integration services toour customers. These servicescapitalize on our “transmissionline” expertise and are designedto ensure that all signals withina test station reach the properinstrument or unit under test(UUT) with unparalleled fidelityand integrity.
