Anti MicrobialAll white moulded and Mode part M wiringaccessories are manufactured using UreaFormaldehyde, which has similar inherentproperties to antimicrobial additives thatinhibit the growth of infectious diseases. All products independently tested achieveda 99.99% kill off rate across all four typesof the strains of bacteria - MRSA, E-Coli,Salmonella and Klebsiella Pneumoniae.Building RegulationsPart MPart M1 of the Building Regulations refers to the ‘Accessand Use’ of a building and its facilities with Sections 4.25to 4.29 then refining the use and design considerations ofswitches, outlets and controls.Part of the requirements of Part M1 is to aid disabledpeople within their surroundings, being able to activate alight, socket or control within arms length, for the visuallyimpaired being able to identify the units’ position againstits surrounding décor, and for the infirm a suitable pull-cordswitch to raise the alarm in the event of an emergency. The CLICK Part M brochure offers suitable solutions to theelements raised in Part M1 (4.25 to 4.29) with anthracitegrey accessories contrasting against the high reflectivedécor used in the majority of todays’ buildings along witha range of pull-cord switches with alternative cords andbangles. As well as the CLICK MODE anthracite grey finishaccessories, the wide range of CLICK moulded, decorativeand metal clad accessories offer alternatives to either suitor contrast against the surrounding décor.call: 01827 63454 fax: 01827 63362 email: sales@scolmore.com visit: www.scolmore.comg3

Design ConsiderationsThe key factors that affect the use of switches, outlets and controls are easeof operation, visibility, height and freedom from obstruction.A consistent relationship with doorways and corners will furtherreinforce the ease with which people manipulate switches andcontrolsAll users should be able to locate a control, know which setting it ison and use it without setting it on and use it without inadvertentlychanging its settingControls that contrast visually with their surroundings are moreconvenient for visually impaired people, as are light switches that areactivated by a large push padIt is also an advantage if individual switches on panels and onmultiple socket outlets are well separated, or in the form of large touchplates, to avoid the inadvertent selection of an adjacent control byvisually impaired people and people with limited dexterityg4

Pull-cord ProvisionsWhere wall mounted switches cannot be provided, i.e. bathrooms andtoilets, lighting pull cords are recommended.A 50mm bangle visually contrasting with its background needs to befitted between 900mm and 1100mm above the floor. For emergency alarms systems the pull cord and bangle needs to becoloured red and located as close to a wall as possible. Two banglesare to be fitted, one set at 100mm and the other set between 800mmand 1000mm above the floor.call: 01827 63454 fax: 01827 63362 email: sales@scolmore.com visit: www.scolmore.comg5
