Section 4 <strong>Scanner</strong> ® <strong>2000</strong> microEFM<br />

Entering the Slave Address<br />

The slave address is a setting used in Modbus ® communications. It is a number that ranges from 1 to 65535,<br />

excluding 252 to 255 and 64764, which are reserved. If the Modbus ® request message contains the matching<br />

address, the device will respond to the request. In network arrangements, the device must have a unique slave<br />

address. For more information about Modbus ® communications, refer to Section 1—Introduction. If Modbus ®<br />

communications are not used, leave the slave address at the factory setting (1).<br />

To Enter a Port 1 Slave Address:<br />

Enter the Access menu. Press UP ARROW and ENTER<br />

simultaneously.<br />

Locate the Slave Address setting. PORT 1 SLAVE ADDRESS will<br />

appear in the lower display, and the<br />

rightmost digit in the top display will<br />

begin blinking.<br />

Enter the Slave Address.<br />

(range: 1 to 65535; excluding 252 to<br />

255 and 64764)<br />

To Enter a Port 2 Slave Address:<br />

Press UP ARROW until the correct<br />

digit is displayed.<br />

Then press LEFT ARROW to select<br />

the next digit to the left.<br />

Repeat using UP and LEFT arrows to<br />

enter all remaining digits.<br />

Press ENTER.<br />

Enter the Access menu. Press UP ARROW and ENTER<br />

simultaneously.<br />

Locate the Slave Address setting. Press ENTER twice until PORT 2<br />

SLAVE ADDRESS appears in the<br />

lower display. The rightmost digit in<br />

the top display will begin blinking.<br />

Enter the Slave Address.<br />

Press UP ARROW until the correct<br />

digit is displayed.<br />
