C-MAP Dynamic LicensingFlexible Chart Licensing ServiceFORMATThe data is distributed in Jeppesen’s SENC format.The SENC technology developed for the distributionof authorised navigational chart data has been type approvedby DNV.SUBSCRIPTION1At subscription start, a contract has to be signed by thecustomer. The contract regulates important terms such asthe subscription area (Zones), Credit Limit,Invoice Limit and Invoice Period. The subscription terms canbe changed whenever required.SUPPORTING PRODUCTSEasy access to chartsThe subscribers need licenses to open up charts as they sail, or plan the route.The C-MAP Dynamic Licensing service allows ECDIS users to acquire precisely those chartlicenses they need exactly when they need them. As opposed to conventional licensingmethods, Dynamic Licensing automates the process of acquiring these licenses andsimultaneously uses subscription zones and credit limits to control costs.LicensingDepending on the ECDIS system, there will be different options to get licenses to new charts.Some systems may have a Planning Mode where licenses to new charts are activated by panningor zooming into a new chart, and a Navigation Mode where licenses to new charts areautomatically generated as soon as the vessel enters into a new chart. This ensures that thecustomer always has licenses for charts covering the surroundings of the vessel’s position.Dynamic Licensing can be switched on or off whenever required.ReportingThe user does not have to manually report chart usage to Jeppesen. When connectingto the online update service for updating the charts, a full report on new chart licensesobtained since the last report is automatically generated and sent to Jeppesen Marine. Onlineupdating and reporting, together with the online customer portal, ensures that the subscriberand Jeppesen have a complete up-to-date picture of all charts licensed.C-MAP Update ServiceSubscribers can choose from a range of options to keep their onboard databases updated basedon their particular operational requirements and the communication facilities available on thevessel.2Information about credit limitstatus and licensed charts ismanaged by the system andaccessible forthe user whenever needed.This service is supported by following products• Jeppesen PRIMAR ECDIS Service• C-MAP ENCLICENSINGSubscribers can choose the license periodbased on their requirements. Dependingon the relevant HO’s policy, the options are 3, 6or 12 months.
