ANNEX FESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDuring the initial stages of development of the COOP plan it is necessary to identify essentialfunctions and critical processes/services. The following worksheets provide a systematicapproach to ensure a complete listing of essential functions and critical processes/services thatmust be supported within the COOP plan. Essential functions are also summarized in Section 2of the Basic Plan (Essential Functions and COOP Personnel).For each critical function, it is necessary to identify any activity that can not be interrupted orbecome unavailable without risking the ability of the organization to perform that function.These are referred to as ‘critical process and services’ in the following worksheets.Once essential functions, and critical processes and services are listed it is useful to prioritizethem to ensure that staff focuses on key functions during an emergency and guide the properallocation of scarce resources.
