LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS The Duvall Cultural Commission The Duvall Cultural Commission is body of seven volunteer members appointed by the Mayor to advise the city council on the support and furtherance of all arts and cultural activities within the city. The Duvall Cultural Commission builds civic identity and economic vitality through the support, education, and promotion of the arts, culture, and heritage for the Duvall community. The Duvall Youth Advisory Commission A youth advocacy group that connects with kids to find out what activities and programs they would like to see added to our community. Duvall Foundation for the Arts (DFA) The Duvall Foundation for the Arts promotes creativity, diversity and cultural awareness by supporting the arts and arts education in the lower Snoqualmie Valley. Visit our website at www.duvallarts.org. Duvall Historical Society Founded in 1976 the Duvall Historical Society works to preserve the heritage of Duvall and the surrounding region. It publishes books on this subject and sponsors regular programs open to the general public. The Society meets at the Dougherty House on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m., September through June. The Dougherty House is located at 26526 Cherry Valley Road. Duvall Civic Club The Duvall Civic Club/Friends of the Library was founded in 1929 in response to the community’s needs during the depression. The present day organization’s purpose is to be dedicated to supporting endeavors to enhance the quality of life for Snoqualmie Valley Citizens and the Duvall continued on next page
Community in general. Our priorities include the Duvall Library, education, and social services. Meetings are held the 2nd wednesday of every month in the Rose Room at the Duvall Library on Main Street and everyone is welcome to attend. Contact President Sue Juhre at (425) 788-7695 for more information. Duvall Rotary Meets every Wednesday from 7:15 - 8:30 a.m. at the Twin Dragons Restaurant in Duvall. Check out the website at www.duvallrotary.org. Riverview Education Foundation (REF) Riverview Education Foundation P.O. Box 62 Carnation, WA 98014 www.refweb.org The Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer organization established in 1991 by local Community members to enhance the educational opportunities of the Riverview School District students. As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, the REF provides a way to direct tax-deductible donations that are intended to benefit local school enrichment. Our mission is to generate financial and community support for enriching the education of Riverview students. Just as there are identified risks and protective factors for heart disease, identified risk and protective factors in the home, schools, community, and peers influence our children’s health choices.
