That includesa 34-0 win over Holy Name in theSuper Bowl, which capped a 13-0season, which White considers hismost memorable sports moment.White was also a strong fullback,rushing 39 times for 386 yardsand 4 touchdowns as the Mountaineersfinished No. 1 in the<strong>Hometeam</strong> media poll for the firsttime. White is hoping to studybusiness management at AnnaMaria or Nichols College andhopes to run his own companysomeday. Pedonewas named the Division 1A OffensiveMVP after finishing the regular seasonwith 135 carries for 1,103 yards and 13touchdowns — impressive numbersconsidering Pedone shared the load with fellow backsGary White, Eric Darko and Matt McMillen. Theflashy Pedone showed he could score whenever hetouched the ball, breaking off a 70-yard score and addinga 21-yard scamper around the right side in Wachusett’s14-7 win over St. John’s. Pedone, who also returnedkicks for the Mountaineers, turned it up in theplayoffs, rushing for 94 yards against Leominster inthe first round, then scoring twice in a 34-0 win overHoly Name in the Super Bowl. Pedone was a <strong>Telegram</strong>& <strong>Gazette</strong> Division 1 and Division 1 North all-star as ajunior. Pedone enjoys golfing and playing video gamesin his spare time and is hoping to attend law schoolafter graduating college. He is the son of Susan andJames Pedone of Holden.Wachusett’s Matt Pedone.Alan AlvarezAssabet ValleySenior, Running BackAtwo-time <strong>Telegram</strong> &<strong>Gazette</strong> SuperTeamer, Alvarez led theAztecs with over 1,643rushing yards as Assabetreached the Division 3Aplayoffs. Alvarez surpassedlast year’s total of1,620 rushing yards topush him over 3,000.Alvarez was named his league’s OffensiveMVP twice, and also picked up a pair ofColonial Athletic all-star team nods. Hisbrother, Alex, was a Super Teamer forShrewsbury and helped lead the Colonialsto a 2007 Super Bowl title. Alan added hisown trophy when the Aztecs captured aSuper Bowl in 2008, which he calls hismost memorable sports moment. Alvarezenjoys snowboarding in his spare time. Heis the son of Toby and Steve Alvarez ofShrewsbury.Hunter BeckmannShrewsbury HighSenior, Running BackBeckmann was namedto the Division 1Aall-star team after leadingthe Colonials with 246carries for 1,537 yardsand 12 touchdowns. The5-foot-8, 160-pounderalso helped Shrewsburyto the Division 1A playoffsbefore falling to St.John’s. Beckmann was a part of theColonials’ perfect run to a Super Bowltitle in 2007, which he considers hismost memorable sports moment. Beckmann,who is also a standout lacrosseplayer at Shrewsbury, will prep for a yearnext fall at Hebron Academy before goingon to college. His sister, Chelsea, was anall-star cheerleader at Shrewsbury. He isthe son of Bruce Beckmann of Shrewsbury.Jamison DiGeronimoFitchburg HighSenior, Offensive LineThe 6-foot-1, 230-pound DiGeronimo recorded40 tackles, 6 sacks, 2 forcedfumbles and a fumble recovery to earn a spoton the Division 1A all-star team. DiGeronimowas a standout guard and defensive tacklefor coach Ray Cosenza, and helped the RedRaiders to the 2008 Super Bowl as a junior,which he regards as his most memorablesports moment. DiGeronimo is hoping toattend St. Anselm or Assumption next fall withhopes of becoming a successful businessman. His fatherplayed football at the University of Maine, and his dad and hisuncle Paul coach at Fitchburg High. He is the son of Sherrieand Thomas DiGeronimo of Fitchburg.Kenny BatesBurncoat HighSenior, QuarterbackBates was named theDivision 1C OffensiveMVP after leading thePatriots with 1,243 passingyards and 13 touchdowns.Bates added 400yards and four touchdownson the ground asthe Patriots finished 4-7.Bates had a spectaculargame against Northbridge, throwing for 319yards and four touchdowns as the Patriotsupset the Rams, providing his most memorablesports moment. Bates was also astandout cornerback for coach JimPisegna, picking off two passes. Bates alsoplays baseball and basketball at Burncoatand is captain on the court this winter. Hisfather, Ken, is in the Burncoat Hall ofFame, and his uncle is former Holy Crossbasketball great Jack “The Shot” Foley. Grasis andfellow Super Teamer Christian Ricardhelped David Prouty to a 13-0 seasonthat ended with the Division 2A SuperBowl title, which was his most memorablesports moment. Grasis wasrewarded with the Division 2A OffensiveMVP award and the team OffensiveMVP. He is the son of Dorothy andMike Grasis of East Brookfield.Casey HippertNorthbridge HighSenior, Tight EndHippert leavesNorthbridge asone of the topreceivers around,leading CentralMass. with 841receiving yards andseven touchdowns.Hippert was namedthe Division 2AOffensive MVP for the second straightyear after setting school records forcareer receptions and total yards. Hewas named to the all-state team, aswell. Hippert was also a standoutlinebacker for the Rams, recordingfour interceptions. Hippert was namedto the Super Team as a junior afterleading the Rams to the Division 2Aplayoffs before losing to Auburn,22-18. He is also a three-time leagueall-star. Hippert leads the Rams’ basketballteam again this winter andcould pass the 1,000-point mark as afour-year starter. He has plenty ofchoices of where to play collegefootball next year. Howletthelped Oakmont to the Division3A Super Bowl, which was his mostmemorable sports moment. Howlettwas named the Division 3A OffensiveMVP and will graduate with schoolrecords for extra points in a game (8),extra points in a season (65), careerextra points (107), points in a season(187), touchdown receptions in aseason (14) and touchdown receptionsin a career (16). Howlett is alsoa standout basketball and track athletefor the Spartans and is Oakmont’sbasketball captain. Howlett ishoping to become a personal trainerafter he graduates college. Duringthe regular season,he completed 117of 213 passes for1,847 yards and 27touchdowns. The Pioneers went 11-2and won the Division 1A Super Bowl,which was his most memorablesports moment. Murphy finishedsecond in passing yards in CentralMass. and also proved to be aneffective runner, gaining 584 yardsand scoring six touchdowns. Murphycontinued to flourish in the postseason,racking up more than 300passing yards and adding anothertouchdown to finish his season withschool records in passing yards andtouchdown passes. His father was aformer Holy Cross quarterback, andthat school is one of the many he isconsidering. Division2 meet, sprinting awayfrom Whitinsville Christian’sAnnaliese VanderBaan with 50 yards to go.She completed the2.9-mile Gardner coursein 17:17.8, the fastest time posted in eitherdivision, and she considers that feat hermost memorable sports moment. She was13th in the state meet a week later in Northfield.This is her second straight appearanceon the T&G Super Team and her third yearrunning cross-country. She has been aMid-Wach D all-star in each of those years.McGahie enjoys swimming, skiing, campingand hiking. Conference all-star in each of the last three seasonsand won the NDA coach’s award in outdoor track last year. She considersbreaking the school indoor 2-mile record last year to be her most memorablesports moment. She hasn’t decided on college yet, but is busy sortingthrough her choices. She is the daughter of Trefa and Bob White of Holden;her father was a football star at Lunenburg High and the University ofRhode Island before playing three years with the Dallas Cowboys.Laura WilliamsonWachusett Regional, SophomoreShe makes her third appearance on the T&G Super Team after helpinglead coach Larry Jaquith’s squad to the Central Mass. Division 1 teamtitle and fourth place in the state. She finished seventh in the Central Mass.Division 1 meet at Gardner (18:13.5, 2.9 miles), the same place but 3seconds faster than the year before. She followed that performance aweek later by placing 25th in the state meet. Her most memorable sportsmoment, though, was going to New York with her team to compete in theNike Cross-Country Regionals. She was a T&G Super Teamer in outdoortrack, breaking the school record in the 800 and the 1,600 relay. Lamptey is athree-time Central Mass. all-star and helped Northto a 12-3-3 record this year. Lamptey has starredfor the FC Blazers and FC United club teams — histwo goals gave FC United a 2-1 championship victory in a NewJersey tournament. Lamptey is undecided on where to attend college,but hopes to pursue a degree in business management. Machadoalso was named to the Central Mass. and allstateteams this year for the first time. For thesecond time, he made the league all-star squad.Machado is hoping to become a professionalsoccer player someday. An honor roll student inthe fall, he recalls his first career goal as hismost memorable sports moment. Machado hadplenty of big games this year for coach Steve McCaughey, as hescored two goals in each win over Westboro and Marlboro. He isthe son of Stefanes and Tatiano Machado of Leominster.Mike FowlerMaynard HighSenior, MidfieldFowler certainly was a scoringmachine this season, leadingCentral Mass. with 44 goals and16 assists. Fowler was named tothe Mid-Wach D all-star team forthe third straight year and pickedup his second straight leagueMVP award. He also notched hissecond turn on the Central Mass.and all-state teams. Fowler finishedhis career with 107 goals and 64 assists,which puts him third all-time in the state for careergoals in boys’ soccer. Fowler is also one of the topbasketball players in the area and was the Mid-Wach D MVP as a junior. He will finish his senioryear as captain of Maynard’s basketball, baseballand soccer teams. Celebrating his 100th careergoal with his teammates was his most memorablesports moment. The Maynard resident is the son ofShelly and Bob Fowler.Pat KellerAlgonquin RegionalSenior, MidfieldOne of the key players in Algonquin’srun to the Division 1title, Keller had 12 goals and eightassists for coach Ken Morin.Keller was named to the all-stateteam for the first time, the CentralMass. team for the second timeand the Mid-Wach A all-star teamfor the third time. A four-yearvarsity player, Keller was a captainthis year. Keller scored three goals in a Division 1semifinal this year against Leominster, which heregards as his most memorable sports moment.His father was a state wrestling champion in Minnesota.Keller is undecided on where to attend college,but is hoping to earn a degree in communicationsand become an entrepreneur. He is theson of Denise and Tom Keller of Northboro.Brendan McGillAlgonquin RegionalSenior, MidfieldMcGill earned his second nominationto the all-state teamafter helping the Tomahawks tothe Division 1 Central Mass. title.McGill scored five goals andadded 18 assists and was namedto the Central Mass. all-star teamfor the third straight year. McGillsaid this year’s run to the CentralMass. title — culminating with awin over St. John’s — was his most memorablesports moment. A second-year Super Teamer,McGill will attend Holy Cross in the fall. McGillenjoys listening to music, boating and Frisbee inhis spare time. McGill also plays basketball for theTomahawks. He is the son of Barbara and JeffreyMcGill of Northboro.Patrick GaumondWachusett RegionalSenior, MidfieldGaumond earned a spot on the<strong>All</strong>-New England all-star teamafter scoring 14 goals and adding11 assists for Wachusett. Gaumondhelped the Mountaineers toa 15-4-2 mark and a spot in theDivision 1 semifinals. Gaumondwas a two-year captain for coachand father Jason Gaumond and atwo-time Mid-Wach A all-star pick.Gaumond stars for the FC United club team in theoffseason. Gaumond scored the winning goal withless than a minute left in the second overtimeagainst Milford in a first-round tournament game, afeat he regards as his most memorable sportsmoment. Gaumond is hoping to pursue a degree insports management. He is the son of Raeleen andJason Gaumond of Holden.Mark KotsopoulosSt. John’s HighSenior, GoalkeeperKotsopoulos posted a 50-4-3career record and helped thePioneers to the Division 1 final.Kotsopoulos notched 14 shutoutsand posted a 0.70 goals-againstaverage as a senior and earned histhird selection to the Central Mass.Conference all-star team, secondto the Central Mass. all-star teamand first to the all-state team. Kotsopoulosearned a spot on last year’s Super Teamafter St. John’s captured the Division 1 title, as Kotsopoulosrecorded 13 shutouts. Kotsopoulos alsowas a member of St. John’s 2007 state championshipteam. While he is still narrowing down his collegechoices, Kotsopoulos hopes to pursue a lawdegree. He is the son of Amy and Chris Kotsopoulosof Shrewsbury.Cody OsgoodBromfield SchoolSenior, Forward/MidfieldOsgood wrapped up a spectacularcareer at Bromfield with 33 goalsand 12 assists this year. Osgoodleaves with 85 career goals and theschool record for most goals in agame with six. He is also second onBromfield’s all-time list with 23 postseasongoals. Osgood was namedMid-Wach C co-MVP with fellowSuper Teamer Jonni Ventura of Oakmont.Osgood was selected for the all-state and CentralMass. all-star teams. Osgood was a key member ofthe Trojans’ two Division 3 state title teams as a sophomoreand junior, which he says are his most memorablesports moments. Osgood was named the Division 3Tournament MVP for both championship runs. Osgoodis hoping to pursue a business degree in college. He isthe son of Kelly and Kris Osgood of Harvard.

Power was named to the Central Mass.and all-state teams for the third straight year and alsoearned his fourth straight Dual Valley Conference allstarselection. Power claims this year’s ride to theDivision 3 state final provided his most memorablesports moment. Power plans to attend and play soccer at Eastern ConnecticutState University in the fall. He is the son of Karen and TimothyPower of Douglas.Dan RotatoriGrafton HighSenior, ForwardRotatori notched 22 goals and six assists for Grafton,earning him spots on the Division 2 all-stateand Central Mass. all-star teams. Rotatori, whohelped the Indians to a 15-5-1 record and the CentralMass. final, earned a SWCL all-star selection for thesecond consecutive season. Rotatori was also a<strong>Telegram</strong> & <strong>Gazette</strong> lacrosse Super Teamer lastspring and is a three-time Central Mass. all-star in thesport. Rotatori is undecided on his college plans butis hoping to become a physical education teacherand open his own gym. Rotatori’s father, whocoaches Grafton boys’ lacrosse and boys’ soccer, starred at UMassand played pro lacrosse for the Boston Blazers.
