Department of <strong>Health</strong> Enforcement <strong>Act</strong>ions in the <strong>2009</strong>–10 yearRoutine food business inspections are the responsibility of local government. <strong>SA</strong> <strong>Health</strong> does however becomeinvolved in compliance matters in the course of surveys, complaints and investigation of illness. As a result, identifiednon compliance of food business is managed through application of the nation enforcement policy. The department is continuing to work with industryand local government and is developing monitoring and review systems, to ensure effective management of the <strong>au</strong>ditprocess in <strong>SA</strong> food businesses to whom this standard applies.The department has continued to conduct food safety <strong>au</strong>dits of public hospitals and not-for-profit deliveredmeals organisations including Meals on Wheels. In <strong>2009</strong>–10 the department has continued to <strong>au</strong>dit facilities atthe frequency determined by the performance of individual sites, in line with the priority classification for thesebusinesses.
