Din il-persuna se tkun ingaġġata biextaħdem fuq attivitajiet immexxija miċ-Ċentru b’konnessjonimal-proġett MEDESS-4MS li hu parzjalment iffinanzjatmill-Programm Med. Dan il-proġett hu ddedikat għallprevenzjonitar-riskji marittimi u t-tisħiħ tas-sigurtà marittimarelatata mal-inkwinament tat-tixrid taż-żejt fil-Mediterran.MEDESS-4MS se jagħti multi-model operattiv integrat ma’servizz ta’ tbassir fuq tixrid ta’ żejt fil-Mediterran, konnessima’ pjattaformi eżistenti ta’ moniteraġġ (CSN, AIS), billijintużaw is-sistemi ta’ mmudellar sew stabbiliti tat-tixridtaż-żejt, id-data mill-Marine Core Services u s-sisteminazzjonali ta’ tbassir <strong>tal</strong>-oċean.Dan il-post hu għal perjodu <strong>tal</strong>-proġett sal 31 ta’ Jannar2015. Id-dmirijiet marbuta ma’ dan il-post jinsabu f’aktardet<strong>tal</strong>l fil-folja mehmuża ‘Iktar informazzjoni’.2. Il-post joffri prospetti tajba ħafna ta’ bini ta’ kapaċità uopportunità ta’ taħriġ fuq ix-xogħol, iżda l-persuna maħturatkun mistennija li jkollha l-ħiliet bażiċi meħtieġa sabiextintegra u tirrendi prestazzjoni tajba ħafna fl-impriża taxxogħolassenjat. Il-persuna nominata hija mistennija li:jkollha ħiliet eċċellenti fl-użu ta’ office software fuq livellprofessjonali kif ukoll software speċjalizzat (bħal għodod flipproċessartad-data);jkollha kwalifiki suffiċjenti fis-suġġetti relatati,preferibbilment fil-xjenzi <strong>tal</strong>-baħar u/jew kompjuting uinġinerija, kif ukoll rekord ta’ esperjenza ta’ xogħol rilevantigħal din il-kariga;Tkun taf sewwa l-web development software, disinn <strong>tal</strong>kompjuteru t-teknoloġija <strong>tal</strong>-IT;preferibbilment ikollha ħiliet fl-ipprogrammar <strong>tal</strong>kompjuter;tkun tista’ taħdem b’mod indipendenti u bħala membruta’ tim;UNIVERSITY OF MALTACall for ApplicationsFull-Time Post/s of Project Assistantwith the Physical Oceanography Unitof the IOI-<strong>Malta</strong> Operational CentreThe Physical Oceanography Unit (PO-Unit) of the IOI-<strong>Malta</strong> Operational Centre (IOI-MOC) at the Universityrequires the services of a Project Assistant to work on fulltimebasis. The additional staff member will be engaged towork on activities conducted by the Centre in connectionwith the MEDESS-4MS project which is partly financedby the Med Programme. This project is dedicated to themaritime risks prevention and strengthening of maritimesafety related to oil spill pollution in the Mediterranean.MEDESS-4MS will deliver an integrated operational multimodel oil spill prediction service in the Mediterranean,connected to existing monitoring platforms (CSN, AIS),using the well established oil spill modeling systems, thedata from the Marine Core Services and the national oceanforecasting systems.The appointment is for the duration of the project until the31st January 2015. The duties pertaining to this position aregiven in detail on the attached ‘further information sheet’.2. The post offers very good prospects of capacity buildingand training-on-the-job opportunities, but the appointee willbe expected to have the necessary basic skills to fit andrender with an optimal performance in the undertaking ofthe assigned tasks. The appointee is expected to:have excellent skills in the use of office software at aprofessional level as well as specialised software (such asdata processing tools);have sufficient qualifications in related subjects,preferably in the marine sciences and/or computing andengineering as well as a record of work experience relevantto this post;have a sound knowledge in web development software,computer design and IT technology;preferably have skills in computer programming;be able to work independently and as a member of ateam;
