NCC Holiday CardFirst PlaceNorwalk Community College has produceda holiday greeting card created by NCC faculty,or students in Fine Art or Graphic Design classes,for many years. Back in the not too distant past,a design contest was started to encourage studentparticipation.In early October, when it’s still warm enoughto go swimming at the beach, John Alvord, Chairof the Art, Architecture and Design departmentputs out a call for student entries in the NCCHoliday Card Design Contest.This year more than a dozen student entrieswere considered by AA+D faculty, the PublicRelations Office and the President’s Office. Threedesigns were chosen for first, second and thirdplace. Gift cards from the NCC bookstore wereawarded to the winners.This year’s winning design, created byKristin Allen, was used to create NCC’s 2011holiday e-card. NCC’s webmaster, KristianCorrea, created a Flash animation featuring thewinning design. They came up with such interestingproject ideas as a tree house, circus train, hot air balloonand a house. The completed boxes will be given to thechildren in the CDLS to play with when the project iscompleted.Parents take note: If you’re still in a quandary aboutwhat else to give your young children for Christmas, maybeyou should start your own “box project.” You’ll have a oneof-a- kind gift that they are sure to enjoy playing in.along with eight other legal professors from this nationalorganization.Professor Barone completed and filed her applicationto the U.S. Supreme Court over the summer. The applicationprocess required a review, by the Supreme Court, ofher employment history, a homeland security backgroundcheck, and a review of her credentials in the States of Connecticutand New York, as well as several Federal DistrictCourts where she is admitted to practice law.Barone and the eight other professors were honoredthe next day at the American Association for ParalegalEducation national conference held in Baltimore MD.Wellness Center Open SessionsClasses take place in H005, in the Center for Science,Health and Wellness• Open Relaxation Techniques: Tuesdays from 2:30-3:10 p.m.• Open Yoga: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5 p.m.• Open Tai Chi: Thursdays from 5:30-6:10pmBeginner and Intermediate levels welcomeNo sign-up required, just drop in and try a form of mind/body exercise!
