The inquirer who seeks consideration for ordination to the permanentdiaconate needs to enter into dialogue with his parishsince it is the pastor who is required to initially present him fordiaconal formation. (174)2. A formal application process, as well as a committee on admissionand scrutinies, should be in place to review and nominateapplicants. (175, 284)3. As part of the application process, those charged with admissionmust—with appropriate care for confidentiality and manifestationof conscience—explore for the presence of canonicalimpediments to ordination. If canonical dispensations arerequired, these must be obtained before admission to aspirantformation. (176)4. Required application documents are listed in paragraph 178.5. With acceptance into aspirant formation, the admission processcontinues with an assessment of readiness for entrance into thecandidate path in formation. (181)
