Visit of Consultation Teams193VII. Providing Feedback, Preliminary Reports, and theFinal Consultation Report to the Requesting BishopA. When giving feedback, preparing preliminary reports, or writingthe final consultation Team report, the chair and Team memberswill distinguish between their objective observations of a diocesanprogram’s compliance with the provisions of the National Directoryand their personal observations. The Team’s objective observationswill provide the basis of the report on each area of the diaconal program,their commendations and recommendations, and the basis forthe Team’s final report of the consultation.B. During the consultation, Team members may make suggestionsbased on their own experience. Since the focus of the ConsultationTeam is an evaluation of a diocesan program’s adherence to the provisionsof the National Directory, however, any recommendationsmade to the diocesan staff will focus on helping the diaconate staffeither to comply with or adapt the provisions of the NationalDirectory to their specific needs.C. The preliminary oral report and the final written report of theConsultation Team provide a constructive assessment of the degreeto which local implementation and adaptation of the NationalDirectory have been made. Recommendations are offered to helpstrengthen deacon formation, post-ordination diaconal life, andministry in the diocese. Subsequently, any changes made in a localprogram in order to implement the Team’s recommendations will bedetermined by the diocesan bishop and carried out by the staff.D. Prior to the departure of the Consultation Team, a preliminaryoral report will be made to the requesting diocesan bishop and/or hisdirector of the diaconate and others the bishop may elect to invite.The manner and details of this presentation will be the responsibilityof the Team chair. The oral report includes impressions and tentativeconclusions of the Team members. This is the time to clarifyany ambiguities, either on the part of the Team or of the requestingbishop and his staff.
