SAFClimax - the culminating stage in plant succession for a given site where thevegetation has reached a highly stable condition. RGClosed sapling pole - sapling and pole stands which are characterized by aclosed tree canopy and very little ground cover. Tree crown closure willexceed 60 percent and often reaches 100 percent.Cluster - an area that contains habitat capable of supporting three or morebreeding pairs of spotted owls with overlapping or nearly overlappinghome ranges.Clutch - the number of eggs laid by a female bird at one time. EFGCohort - individuals all resulting from the same birth-pulse, and thus all of thesame age.Colonization - the establishment of a species in an area not currently occupiedby that species. Colonization often involves dispersal across an areaof unsuitable habitat.Conferencing - informal consultation that takes place between the U.S. Fishand Wildlife Service and another federal agency when it is determinedthat a proposed federal action may jeopardize the continued existence of aspecies proposed as threatened or endangered or result in adversemodification of proposed critical habitat.Confidence interval - an-interval that is calculated from a series of samplesintended to estimate the value of a parameter.
