However, our ATMsalready had been completely adapted tothis technology in 2006. As a result, byOctober <strong>2007</strong>, when the card replacementprocess was completed, <strong>UniCredit</strong> <strong>Banka</strong><strong>Slovenija</strong> d.d. was one of the few Slovenianbanks that had completely adopted the chiptechnology. During the card replacementprocess, we also took into consideration theSEPA requirements related to card business.The trend of fast growth of transactions withcards issued by the Bank, continued in <strong>2007</strong>too, as we have seen an 8 % growth in VISAtransactions, a 6 % growth in MasterCardand a 33 % growth of Maestro transactions.The number of cards issued by the <strong>Banka</strong>lso increased, namely by 18 % for VISA,by 30 % for MasterCard and by 29 % forMaestro.In <strong>2007</strong>, we continued the trend ofincreasing the number of domestictransactions (by 18 %) as well as thecross-border and international paymenttransactions (by 15 %). The share ofelectronically received payment ordersincreased to 86 % in domestic transactionsand to 84 % in cross-border andinternational payment transactions.Electronic banking is a communicationchannel that is becoming increasinglyimportant in modern banking services. Inline with these changes, we introduced aseries of minor a<strong>dd</strong>itions that improvedthe user-friendliness of electronic bankingsystems; we enabled our clients access toa<strong>dd</strong>itional data on payment transactions andimproved the reliability of these systems.The trend of increasing share of users ofelectronic banking systems continuedthroughout <strong>2007</strong> as well, since 27 % morecorporate clients and 40 % more individualclients were using them compared to thepreceding year.Information System SecurityFor banks, information and informationtechnology systems present assets ofgreat importance, requiring appropriatesecurity measures are taken to ensure theform and manner of information storage.The Management Board of <strong>UniCredit</strong> <strong>Banka</strong><strong>Slovenija</strong> d.d. has approved the overallsecurity policy justifying concrete policiesand instructions of safeguarding theindividual areas (physical access policy,‘clear desk’ and ‘clear screen’ policy,password policy, e-mail and the internetpolicy, etc.) and providing a basis for securebusiness.The main objective of the Bank’s informationsystem security is ensuring confidentiality(only authorised persons have access todata and information), integrity (data isaccurate), and optimal availability (ensuringthat authorized users have access toinformation and associated assets whenrequired). All of this is extremely importantfor successful management of the Bank,its reputation and for the confidence of itscustomers. Safety and security checks arebased upon safety standards of <strong>UniCredit</strong>Group and Code of conduct for informationsecurity management ISO 17799.Only authorised persons have access to<strong>UniCredit</strong> Bank · <strong>2007</strong> Annual Report 135
