WVDP Phase 1 CSAPlocations near the Process Building stack. Total releases were less than 0.5% of the administrativerelease limits. Measurements of 4.8E-04 uCi gross beta were recorded. The fallout was confinedto the area several hundred feet from the Process Building, in WMA 1 and WMA 3. Accessibleabove-background spots were decontaminated (DOE 2009 Table 2-18; DOE 2010Section 3.11.5).C.5 Existing DataExisting data sets for this area include:• In 1982, static direct gamma exposure readings were collected across the WVDPpremises (WVNSCO 1982). A portion of WMA 3 was covered by these measurementson a 10-m grid. Figure C.11 shows these results color-coded by the exposure readingsencountered. These data indicated the potential for significant surface contaminationwithin the WMA 3 boundary; however, the interpretation of these data is complicated bythe possibility of shine from the Process Building and other facilities.• In 1990 and 1991, a second static direct gamma exposure measurement program wasconducted across the WVDP premises (WVNSCO 1992). In the case of WMA 3, thiseffort provided systematic coverage for the entire WMA 3 area on a 10-m grid. This datacollection used different instrumentation and protocols than the 1982 study, so the resultsare not quantitatively comparable. Figure C.12 shows these results. These data alsoindicated the potential for significant surface contamination within the WMA 3boundary; however, like the 1982 data sets, the interpretation of these data is complicatedby the possibility of shine from the Process Building and other facilities.• There is no soil sampling data from within the footprint of WMA 3 available withELIMS.• There is limited groundwater data for WMA 3 available within ELIMS from a GeoProbecore and a monitoring well, both located in the southeast corner of the WMA 3 footprint.Figures C.13 and C.14 show the locations of groundwater data collection in the vicinityof WMA 3 (including some from WMA 5) color-coded by Sr-90 and tritium results, respectively. The detection limits for Sr-90 and tritium varied widely among ELIMSRev. 1 C-9
