Recommendations to the governmentThe government can do much on the seriousness of losing weight. The government can doby changing the unrealistic weight perception of people and monitoring the weight loss products.Most women have a unrealistic perception on weight issue. The sources of the unrealisticperception are come from the mass media, peers and social pressure. However, it is a sicklysituation. Therefore, it is suggested that the government should educate the citizens on reasonableweight and how to calculate it. In fact, the government has educated the citizens what is a goodbody figure, however, they just concentrate on the education of obesity. <strong>And</strong> they just teach peoplehow to lose fat and the hazards of being obesity. Therefore, the government should start to educatepeople the right thinking of weight issue since it is a big problem in Hong Kong as peopleover-losing fat, it can cause anorexia nervosa. The government then need to spend much medicalresources on them.In order to let people have a reasonable perception on weight issue and reduce the spendingon medical resources, the government should educate the people. For the group of students, thegovernment can hold seminars to all schools in Hong Kong and reinforce the correct thinking oflosing weight. For the working group, the government can hold some activities or exhibition onweight issue and try to eliminate the unrealistic perception of weight issue and losing weight.The government should also put more effort on monitoring weight loss products, more than90% female interviewees think that the regulation of weight loss products is not enough at all.116
