I hope this letter finds you and your family well. I’m writing to you today about one of my favorite
topics (and probably yours) -- membership mailing plan selection! Okay, maybe it’s not one of
your favorite topics, but given the importance of membership mailings, now’s the best time to start
planning to maximize results for your class this year.
Your class dues payers provide direct support for the communications, programs, scholarships
and other activities of your class. From a broader perspective, it’s important to remember how vital
class membership is to the success of Cornell as a whole. Alumni participation is a crucial part of the
University’s ability to sustain existing programs and implement new initiatives. Class membership
is a key part of cultivating alumni interest and provides a tangible way for people to feel personally
connected to Cornell’s past, present, and future. When you encourage classmates to become dues
paying members, you’re asking them to stand up and identify themselves as alumni who are proud to
be Cornellians and have a stake in our University’s future.
Since we know this is a busy time of year for everyone, we’ve made the creation of a winning
plan as simple as possible. Building on last year’s popularity and success, you’ll find the most recent
edition of the Ezra Plan in the 2011 Guidelines and Templates booklet. The Ezra Plan remains the
easiest and most attractive way to reconnect your classmates and the University. Among the benefits
of this year’s Ezra Plan is an option to utilize a special tip-on for the Cornell Alumni Magazine
which has been designed to help minimize the number of classmates who forget to renew their
memberships.
We’ve also made your job easier by highlighting the Cornell Class Dues Payer Rewards Program –
a whole group of discounts and benefits your classmates will receive just for paying their Class Dues!
Be sure to check them out on the website www.alumni.cornell.edu/classes.
Not sure where to begin? Don’t worry. There’s lots of help available. One of the strongest
determinants of class membership cycle success is the punctuality and regularity of your mailings.
Your class contact and the membership staff in Alumni Affairs, your CACO Board representative, and
your fellow class officers are all sources of support, which can help you plan a timely and effective
set of mailings. You may also visit the CACO website at http://www.alumni.cornell.edu/caco/
membership.cfm to view the Ezra Plan online. Remember, the sooner you return your plan to Alumni
Affairs, the more prompt your mailings will be.
The annual selection of your class membership plan is an exciting time to revitalize the energy
of your class and open the lines of communication. Now is the time to set the stage for a productive
and active year. On behalf of the CACO Board, I want to thank you for your efforts on behalf of the
University and for your attention to this important initiative.
With warm regards,
Nathan Connell ’01
Vice President of Membership, CACO Board

Dear Classmate:
Ezra Plan - Track 1
1st notice-Letter to entire class
Over the years, each of us has built many diverse and rewarding
connections with our beloved Cornell. I feel so fortunate to be part
of a university community that offers me new ideas, interests, and
involvements no matter where I am in life. But one involvement that
never fades into the past is my cherished bond with the Class of XXXX.
Our shared history, memories, friendships, traditions, and life experiences
are the foundation of who we are as Cornellians.
I would like to ask you to help me and my fellow class volunteers keep
this bond strong. When you pay your class dues, you give us the means to
sponsor class activities and events that help us stay connected across the
miles and years.
Your dues also give you a one-year subscription to Cornell Alumni
Magazine, which keeps you in the know about campus happenings,
intriguing alumni of all ages, and your friends’ life events in the class
notes. As an added benefit, you receive special members-only access to
online seminars with some of Cornell’s most intriguing professors and
leaders, as well as a suite of discounts on purchases and activities on
campus, in Ithaca, and with companies throughout the country.
Please renew your Class of 19XX connection today. You can return the
enclosed dues card, along with your check or credit card information
using the return envelope provided. Or you can pay the dues online with
a credit card. Simply visit alumni.cornell.edu/classes and the site will lead
you through the steps.
Together we can keep our class a vibrant, thriving community!
Sincerely,
Alex Vollmer
Dear Classmate:
I noticed recently that you have not yet paid your class dues for the upcoming year. I hope you won’t let the year
go by without receiving the wonderful tangible and intangible rewards that come with being an active member of
our Class of XXXX.
You probably are aware of dues-payer benefits like the one-year subscription to Cornell Alumni Magazine and the
various discounts available to members. Are you also aware of the fact that class dues are our class’s source
of funding for a year’s worth of fantastic programs, parties, communications, and other ways of keeping us all
connected? Or that class membership is one of the ways Cornell is able to take stock of alumni participation in the
life of the university?
As with the classes that came before us, the Class of ’XX has contributed in ways large and small to the history of
Cornell. Help us continue to renew and strengthen that contribution—and help us offer meaningful opportunities
to connect with one another and with our shared past. Something simple, like becoming an active member of our
class, can do quite a lot of good.
I hope you will take a moment today to renew your membership. You can return the form below, along with your
1st notice-Letter to entire class
Now that we’ve been out of school for X years, what memories do you
find yourself sharing about Cornell? Do you talk about courses that
challenged you to leave behind your old limitations? Professors who
inspired you? Friends whose kept you laughing? Discoveries about
yourself and your world?
Cornell gave all of us connections to people, ideas, and experiences that
changed our lives. It can do that for us as alumni, too. All we have to do is
stay connected.
How? One easy way is to become an official member of the Class of XXXX.
This year our class dues are only $X—a great bargain for all we get from
the class in return. Each year, our dues give us:
• Social and professional networking opportunities designed by our
class volunteers, for our interests
• Participation in exclusive members-only webinars conducted by
Cornell professors and administrators
• News and other communications from and about our class
• A one-year subscription to Cornell Alumni Magazine
• Discounts and rewards redeemable at Cornell, in Ithaca, and
across the U.S.
• A voice in our class’s ongoing relationship to Cornell
Your Cornell relationship isn’t over after graduation; it just evolves into
something new. Make sure you make the most of this new stage: visit
alumni.cornell.edu/classes to pay your class dues, send us updates about
your life, and review your membership rewards. Your 7-digit alumni ID is
located above your name and address label when paying online.
I look forward to connecting with you soon!
Sincerely,
Cornell Class of xxxx
It’s one of the best social networks you can join…
Why does your graduating class still matter? Because it’s
an exclusive, ready-made network of peers, friends, and
people who really know what it means to earn a Cornell
degree. Whether you want to catch a great lead or just
catch up, the Class of XXXX organization helps you stay
connected.
Renew your membership in the Class of XXXX by paying
this year’s class dues. The funds pay for the get-togethers
and networking opportunities organized by class
volunteers each year, and give you members-only access
to information and people that matter to you.
You can return the form below, along with your
check, in the enclosed envelope. Or you can pay the dues online with a credit card. Simply visit alumni.cornell.
1st notice-Letter to entire class
I hope you are looking forward to our Xth Reunion as much as I am.
When our class gets together on campus this coming June, we will have so
many memories, connections, and new stories to share and celebrate.
To get ready for the big weekend, our fantastic Class of XXXX volunteers
are giving even more of their time and talent than usual. All year they
will be planning activities and events just for us so that we can have the
best Reunion possible, and they will be attending meetings and training
sessions with Cornell staff so that they can learn the ins and outs of
pulling off a phenomenal weekend.
As classmates, we can support their effort by making sure we pay our
class dues. Our payments cover the cost of communications to our
classmates about Reunion as well as for the training our volunteers
receive. Plus, you’ll also get the usual class membership rewards, like
a year’s subscription to Cornell Alumni Magazine and a suite of great
discounts and special offers.
Cornell Class of xxxx - Connect Today
Being a Cornellian has helped each of us connect with some
fascinating—even life-changing—people, opportunities, and
ideas over the years. Membership in the Class of 19XX is one
of the most meaningful of those connection points, and I’m so
excited that this year we will celebrate our XXth Reunion.
This year, the resources we make available through our dues
payments our dues will help our class volunteers craft a
phenomenal Reunion weekend for us and also will cover the
communications tools we’ll be using to get the word out about
all the great things planned for June.
As always, dues payments also give us a subscription to the
sometimes provocative, always engaging Cornell Alumni
Magazine and a host of special discounts and benefits. And,
new this year, class members will receive invitations to
exclusive online seminars with some of Cornell’s top minds.
Take advantage of all that class membership—and Reunion
weekend—offers this year! Visit alumni.cornell.edu/classes
