SchallLegacy honoree, Peter H.Schall, graciously acceptedhis award before 300 distinguishedguests and TIM<strong>School</strong> supporters at theCelebrate a Legacy in Tourismevent held on Nov. 1.Longtime friend andfellow German countryman,Hans Strasser entertainedguests withstories <strong>of</strong> Peter and hisimpact on the hotelscene in <strong>Hawaii</strong>. FormerHilton employeesErika Lacro and KawehiSellers, both now workingat the TIM <strong>School</strong>,shared how they wereinspired by Peter andhis leadership style.Peter began his career atHilton and is a 46-yearveteran <strong>of</strong> the hospitalityindustry. Recentlyretired as Senior VicePresident <strong>Hawaii</strong> Regionfor Hilton HotelsCorporation, Peter oversawthe general operations<strong>of</strong> Hilton’s hotelsin <strong>Hawaii</strong> which consists<strong>of</strong> the 2,860-roomHilton <strong>Hawaii</strong>an Village,the 1,240-room HiltonWaikoloa Village on <strong>Hawaii</strong>’sBig Island, and the313-room DoubletreeAlana Hotel-Waikiki.As Managing Director, Peterwas directly responsibleHans StrasserRen Hirose, Peter Schall, Dean Walter Jamiesonfor the Hilton <strong>Hawaii</strong>anVillage, the largest hotelin the Hilton Hotels Corporationchain <strong>of</strong> hotels.Schall joined Hilton <strong>Hawaii</strong>anVillage in 1986 andheld the position <strong>of</strong> GeneralManager until 1994.During that time, he wasresponsible for the successfulcompletion <strong>of</strong> the$100 million master planarchitectural renewal <strong>of</strong>this world-class resort.Subsequently he wasnamed Area Vice President,then Senior VicePresident.
