Chapter 2 ⎯ Description of the Proposed Action and AlternativesGrenade Launcher Range: This range is <strong>us</strong>ed to train Soldiers on targeting and <strong>us</strong>e of grenadelauncher systems against stationary infantry and vehicular targets.Sniper Field Fire Range: This range is <strong>us</strong>ed to train Soldiers to identify and engage stationary andmoving targets with a sniper rifle.MK–19 Range: This range is <strong>us</strong>ed to train Soldiers on the operation and <strong>us</strong>e of the MK–19, which is a40-mm grenade launcher. In addition, this range can be <strong>us</strong>ed to train Soldiers in the stationary targetingof armored vehicles <strong>us</strong>ing AT–4 and Javelin antitank weapon systems.Hand Grenade Qualification Course: This range is <strong>us</strong>ed to train Soldiers on techniques for employinghand grenades in close combat.Anti-Armor Tracking Range: This range complex is designed to meet training requirements for mediumand heavy anti-armor weapons systems. This range is <strong>us</strong>ed to train Soldiers in identifying, tracking,targeting, engaging, and defeating moving armor targets individually or in tactical array.Mortar Range: This range is <strong>us</strong>ed to train mortar crews on the operation and <strong>us</strong>e of 80- and 120-mmmortar systems. Soldiers learn to acquire and destroy stationary targets <strong>us</strong>ing indirect fire mortartechniques.2.2.3.2 2/25 th <strong>SBCT</strong> Collective 3 Training Range RequirementsDigital Multipurpose Training Range (DMPTR): This live-fire range is <strong>us</strong>ed to test crews and dismountedsquads on the skills necessary to detect, engage, and defeat stationary and moving enemy infantryand armor targets. This range trains squads and prepares them for platoon live-fire collectivetraining on the Multipurpose Range Complex (MPRC).Battle Area Complex: This range provides collective live-fire training capability to all elements of the<strong>SBCT</strong>. <strong>SBCT</strong> crews and dismounted Soldiers test their ability to detect, engage, and defeat stationaryand moving enemy targets in open and urban terrain. <strong>SBCT</strong> units may train in the BAX with supportingvehicles in free maneuver. In the case of the <strong>SBCT</strong>, the range requirement for a BAX may also bemet by a DMPRC.Infantry Squad Battle Course (ISBC): The ISBC is a collective squad or crew range designed to trainand test infantry squads or crews, either mounted or dismounted, on the skills necessary to conducttactical movement techniques and detect, identify, engage and defeat stationary and moving infantryand armor targets in tactical array.Infantry Platoon Battle Course (IPBC): The IPBC is a collective range designed to train and testinfantry platoons, either mounted or dismounted, on the skills necessary to conduct tactical movementtechniques and detect, identify, engage and defeat stationary and moving infantry and armor targets ina tactical array.Urban Assault Course (UAC): This facility is <strong>us</strong>ed to train individual Soldiers, squads, and platoonson tasks necessary to operate within a built-up/urban area. All Active Component and ReserveSoldiers are required to train on this range.3 Collective training refers to activities conducted in groups at the squad, platoon, company, or battalion unitlevel.
