Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.5.15.1.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsRange maintenance projects on existing would proceed as needed. Maintenance projects would notadd new facilities to the inventory of facilities in Hawaii. These facilities would slightly increase thedemand for utilities and public services. The overall effects of the range construction projects wouldbe beneficial and less than significant.5.5.15.1.3 Impacts from Live-fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsRange <strong>us</strong>e would continue at 2004 levels prior to the transformation of the 2/25 th ID (L) to an <strong>SBCT</strong>on each range type. Therefore, no changes are expected in the amounts of ammunition that would be<strong>us</strong>ed or in the generation of UXO and lead contamination on training ranges. No changes in thedemand for public services or utilities are expected. With implementation of Army SOPs, impacts areexpected to continue to be less than significant and no additional mitigation would be required.5.5.15.1.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsUse of maneuver training areas would continue at maneuver areas currently available for maneuver<strong>us</strong>e. Ongoing <strong>us</strong>e of maneuver training areas would continue to degrade these facilities. However,with continued implementation of regulatory and administrative mitigation such as ITAM, INRMPs,ecosystem management, and the s<strong>us</strong>tainable range management program, impacts to facilities areexpected to be less than significant.5.5.15.2 Alaska5.5.15.2.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionNo ImpactsNo cantonment construction is proposed at this time. However, some construction may occur on an asneeded basis in the future. Furthermore, no additional Soldiers would be stationed at the base.Therefore, no impacts to facilities would be anticipated from cantonment construction.5.5.15.2.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionNo ImpactsNo range construction is proposed at this time. However, some construction may occur on an asneeded basis in the future.
