Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.5.14.1 Hawaii5.5.14.1.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionNo ImpactsSome construction renovation would occur as planned and as needed. Furthermore, no additionalSoldiers would be stationed at the base. Therefore, no impacts to energy would be anticipated fromcantonment construction.5.5.14.1.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsRange maintenance would proceed as needed. Range maintenance would temporarily increase the useof energy (fuels) at the construction sites. This increase would be temporary and less than significantin the overall context of energy usage.5.5.14.1.3 Impacts from Live-fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsThe number of required live-fire user days per year at Hawaii would be near current levels and wouldnot change the amount of energy use (fuels) around the training areas. Consequently, live-fire trainingis not expected to cause any changes to energy impacts, which would be less than significant.5.5.14.1.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsManeuver training would continue at all current training areas available for maneuver training.Maneuver training, which would occur at SBMR, DMR, KTA, and PTA, would not include flights byUAVs. Impacts to energy use would be similar to what occur currently. Therefore, impacts to energyuse would be less than significant.5.5.14.2 Alaska5.5.14.2.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionNo ImpactsNo cantonment construction is proposed at this time. However, some construction may occur on an asneeded basis in the future. Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.5.14.2.3 Impacts from Live-fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsThe number of required live-fire user days per year at FRA and DTA would occur near current levelsand would not change the amount of energy use (fuels). Consequently, live-fire training is notexpected to cause any changes to energy impacts, which would be less than significant overall.5.5.14.2.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsManeuver training would continue at all at both FRA and DTA using existing equipment and trainingmethods. Impacts to energy use would be similar to those that occur currently. Therefore, impacts toenergy use would be less than significant.5.5.14.3 Colorado5.5.14.3.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsThe current number of Soldiers stationed and training at FTC and PCMS would remain the same.However, some additional cantonment facilities would be constructed to meet the needs of theunaccompanied Soldiers that are currently housed off post. This construction would result in a slightincrease in energy demand and costs would occur at FTC because of the additional personnel thatwould reside at FTC. The number of additional personnel would represent slight increase compared tothe existing on-post population. In addition, FTC uses renewable energy sources and is purchasingelectrical power generated from renewable sources. Consequently, the impacts to energy demand areexpected to be less than significant.5.5.14.3.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionNo ImpactsNo range construction is proposed at this time. However, some construction may occur on an asneeded basis in the future. Furthermore, no additional Soldiers would be stationed at the base.Therefore, no impacts to energy demand would be anticipated from range construction.5.5.14.3.3 Impacts from Live-fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsThe number of required live-fire user days per year at FTC would occur near current levels and wouldnot change the amount of energy use (fuels).
