Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.5.8.2 Alaska5.5.8.2.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsNo change in the Soldier population would occur. No new construction projects are currentlyplanned. Consequently, no impacts are expected to the local population, economy, employment,income, or environmental j<strong>us</strong>tice. No effects on ho<strong>us</strong>ing are expected beca<strong>us</strong>e the number of peoplerequiring ho<strong>us</strong>ing on- or off-post would not change significantly. <strong>Final</strong>ly, there would be nodisproportionate effects on minority or low-income populations or changes in the health or safetyrisks that could affect children.5.5.8.2.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionNo ImpactsNo new range construction projects are currently planned. Consequently, no impacts are expected tothe local population, economy, employment, income, or environmental j<strong>us</strong>tice. No effects on ho<strong>us</strong>ingare expected. <strong>Final</strong>ly, there would be no disproportionate effects on minority or low-incomepopulations or changes in the health or safety risks that could affect children.5.5.8.2.3 Impacts from Live-Fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsNoise and fugitive d<strong>us</strong>t generated from training areas could have less than significant adverse indirectimpacts on nearby schools or private residences. Noise and fugitive d<strong>us</strong>t would be limited to daytimehours. Long-term noise impacts would result from training, but training is currently occurring at theinstallations. No live-fire training would take place near schools, day care facilities, or other areaswith large populations of children. No adverse effects to the protection of children are expected underthis alternative.5.5.8.2.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsManeuver training would have no impacts on population, economy, employment, income, ho<strong>us</strong>ing, orschools. Long-term noise impacts would continue from the training that is currently occurring at theinstallations.5.5.8.3 Colorado5.5.8.3.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsThe current number of Soldiers stationed and training at FTC and PCMS would remain the same.However, some additional cantonment facilities would be constructed to meet the needs of theunaccompanied Soldiers that are currently ho<strong>us</strong>ed off post.
