Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.5.8.1 Hawaii5.5.8.1.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionNo ImpactsSome non-Stryker construction such as barracks renovations and maintenance activities would occuras planned. No impacts to socio-economics would be anticipated from cantonment construction.Under the No-Action Alternative there would be less need to ho<strong>us</strong>e Soldiers off-post as the reductionin numbers of Soldiers would mean that SBMR would have adequate Soldier and Family ho<strong>us</strong>ing tomeet the needs of the 2/25 th ID (L). There would be no disproportionate effects on minority or lowincomepopulations or changes in the health or safety risks that could affect children.5.5.8.1.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsRange maintenance would continue to occur at the vario<strong>us</strong> training areas and ranges. These actionswould have less than significant impacts on the local population, economy, employment, or incomeand there would be no disproportionate effects on minority or low-income populations or changes inthe health or safety risks that could affect children.5.5.8.1.3 Impacts from Live-Fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsNoise from live fire activities and fugitive d<strong>us</strong>t generated from training areas could have less thansignificant adverse indirect impacts on nearby schools or private residences. Fugitive d<strong>us</strong>t emissionsat SBMR could affect low-income and minority populations in Wahiawa and Mililani Town.However, these impacts would be mitigated, if necessary, as described in Alternative A. Indirectimpacts would be less than significant and would not disproportionately affect low-income orminority populations. No disproportionate endangerment of children would occur on or near theinstallations.5.5.8.1.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsNoise and fugitive d<strong>us</strong>t generated from training areas could have less than significant adverse indirectimpacts on nearby schools or private residences. Fugitive d<strong>us</strong>t emissions at SBMR could affect lowincomeand minority populations in Wahiawa and Mililani Town. However, these impacts would bemitigated, if necessary, as described in Alternative A. Indirect impacts would be less than significantand would not disproportionately affect low-income or minority populations.
