Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.4.15.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsFacilities. Under this alternative, two new training ranges would be constructed at FTC. Impacts tofacilities would be beneficial and less than significant. No mitigation would be required. No rangeconstruction is planned at PCMS under this alternative; therefore, impact analysis is not applicable.Infrastructure and Utilities. A slight increase in demand on utilities would occur under this alternativeas a result of range construction; however, impacts to utilities are expected to be less than significant.No mitigation would be required.No ImpactsPublic Services. No impacts to public services are expected beca<strong>us</strong>e of range construction.5.4.15.3 Impacts from Live-Fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsFacilities. Range utilization would increase on each range type and increased amounts of ammunitionwould be <strong>us</strong>ed, resulting in a proportionate increase in the generation of UXO and lead contaminationon training ranges. With implementation of Army SOPs, impacts are expected to be less thansignificant. No additional mitigation is required.Utilities. A slight increase in demand on utilities would occur under this alternative beca<strong>us</strong>e ofincreased live-fire training; however, impacts to utilities are expected to be less than significant. Nomitigation would be required.No ImpactsPublic Services. Under this alternative, there would be a slight increase in <strong>us</strong>age of the live-firetraining ranges; however, no impacts to public services are expected. No live-fire training would isplanned at PCMS under this alternative; therefore, impact analysis is not applicable.5.4.15.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingUnder this alternative, the frequency of maneuver training would increase at FTC and a largermaneuver training area would be required at PCMS. The projects proposed for construction in thetraining areas involve little ground disturbance either during construction or operation. A minorincrease in demand on public services and utilities would occur at FTC. Utilities affected couldinclude water or wastewater systems, storm water systems, electricity and gas, solid wastemanagement systems, or communication systems. Infrastructure and utility upgrades are associatedwith this alternative; therefore, impacts are expected to be less than significant. No mitigation wouldbe required.Facilities. Under this alternative, new facilities would be constructed. Impacts would be beneficialand less than significant.Public Services.
