Temporary parking of Stryker vehicleswithin the cantonment area could disturb or damage cultural resources. Approximately 1,693archaeological sites have been documented on FTC. Of these, 131 individual sites are evaluated aseligible for the NRHP, and four NRHP-eligible districts have been identified. Only a small proportionof the sites are on the cantonment. Known eligible archaeological sites can be avoided and protected. There are three NRHP-eligible Historic Districts located on FTC: the Old Hospital Complex, theWastewater Treatment Plant and Incinerator Complex, and the Turkey Creek Recreation Area. In all,68 buildings are contributing properties of these Historic Districts. Given the low number of sites incantonment areas, and the footprints of the proposed projects, mitigation would reduce any impacts toless than significant.Regulatory and Administrative Mitigation 1: An ICRMP has been implemented for FTC and PCMS.The ICRMP for FTC and PCMS establishes a formal mechanism to identify and manage culturalresources. The overall strategic goal of the ICRMP is to conserve and protect cultural resourcesconsistent with the military mission for present and future generations. Objectives include inventoryand evaluation of cultural resources on FTC and PCMS, streamlining of consultation, avoidance andprotection of NRHP eligible sites, monitoring of any potential impacts, and implementation ofmitigation and data recovery plans when appropriate. Preferred measures are the avoidance of sitesand the mitigation of adverse effects to sites. Should modification and upgrading of existing rangesrequire disturbance of areas not surveyed for cultural resources, the appropriate surveys would beconducted. If eligible sites cannot be avoided, they are to be treated and documented in accordancewith appropriate standards.5.4.5.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionSignificant Impacts Mitigable To Less Than SignificantImpact 2: Impacts to cultural resources: There would be limited construction for two new trainingranges on FTC associated with the stationing of the SBCT. The MPMG range would be developed byFebruary 2008 5-146 2/25th SBCT Final EIS
