Chapter 5 – Environmental ConsequencesHowever, SBCT maneuver training typically covers a larger area, potentially extending training intoareas that have not been used as frequently.Increased intensity of maneuver training would possibly result in increased noise levels from Strykervehicles at FRA, but the level of noise would likely not rise above background levels from the GlennHighway. Consequently, no impacts are expected. The adverse effects of noise resulting from militarytraining would increase in the DTA area, but the overall effect would be minor.5.3.13 Airspace ResourcesTable 5-32 summarizes the impacts associated with airspace resources that would occur underAlternative B. No impacts are expected from cantonment construction, range construction, or live-firetraining. Less than significant effects are expected from flights of UAVs during maneuver trainingthat would restrict use of airspace during the training.Table 5-32 Summary of Potential Impacts to Airspace Resources fromAlternative BLocationActivity Group Fort Richardson Donnelly Training AreaImpacts from Cantonment Construction N/AImpacts from Range Construction N/AImpacts from Live-Fire Training Impacts from Maneuver Training = Significant + = Beneficial Impact = Significant but mitigable to less than significant N/A = Not Applicable☼ = Less than Significant= No Impact5.3.13.1 Impacts from Cantonment ConstructionNo ImpactsImpacts to airspace use. When compared to the IBCT that it would be replacing, permanentstationing of the 2/25 th SBCT at FRA would slightly increase the overall population with the additionof Soldiers, their families, and support personnel. Cantonment construction would not requiremodifications to existing controlled or special use airspace and no new special use airspace would beneeded. No cantonment construction would be necessary at DTA; therefore, impact analysis is NotApplicable.5.3.13.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionNo ImpactsImpacts to airspace use. Construction of new ranges at FRA to accommodate the SBCT wouldtemporarily increase human presence and activity at construction sites. This construction would notrequire modifications to existing controlled or special use airspace and no new special use airspacewould be needed. No range construction would be necessary at DTA; therefore, impact analysis isNot Applicable.February 2008 5-115 2/25th SBCT Final EIS
