Chapter 5 – Environmental Consequences5.2.15.2 Impacts from Range ConstructionLess Than Significant ImpactsFacilities. Under this alternative, new training ranges would be constructed at SBMR and KTA. TheDillingham Trail would also be constructed to DMR. Impacts to facilities would be beneficial andless than significant. No mitigation would be required.Utilities. A slight increase in demand on utilities would occur under this alternative as a result ofrange construction; however, impacts to utilities are expected to be less than significant. Nomitigation would be required.No ImpactsPublic Services. No impacts to public services are expected as a result of range construction.5.2.15.3 Impacts from Live-Fire TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsFacilities. Range <strong>us</strong>e would increase on each range type and increased amounts of ammunition wouldbe <strong>us</strong>ed, resulting in a proportionate increase in the generation of UXO and lead contamination ontraining ranges. With implementation of Army SOPs, impacts are expected to be less than significant.No additional mitigation is required.Utilities. A slight increase in demand on utilities would occur under this alternative as a result ofincreased live-fire training; however, impacts to utilities are expected to be less than significant. Nomitigation would be required.No ImpactsPublic Services. Under this alternative, there would be a slight increase in <strong>us</strong>age of the live-firetraining ranges; however, no impacts to public services are expected. No live-fire training is plannedat DMR under this alternative; therefore, impact analysis is not applicable.5.2.15.4 Impacts from Maneuver TrainingLess Than Significant ImpactsPublic Services. Alternative A would have less than significant long-term impacts on police, fire, andmedical services at SBMR, DMR and PTA beca<strong>us</strong>e of training on the Army installations. Movingmilitary traffic to Dillingham Trail and PTA Trail would improve safety on public roads, whichwould be a beneficial effect.Utilities. A slight increase in demand for public utilities would occur as a result of increased training;however, impacts to utilities are expected to be less than significant. No mitigation would be required.Minimal long-term adverse effects are expected beca<strong>us</strong>e of increased demand for potable water at themaneuver training areas. Additional potable water needed at KTA would continue to be trucked in, asthere is no water distribution system in operation. Construction at SBMR, DMR, and PTA couldresult in service interruptions in order to connect new lines and extend service.
