➣ 14.3 CORROSION PROTECTION1 Electro Plated ZincThe anti-corrosion protection consists of an electrolyticallyapplied zinc coating with a layer thickness of 5-8 micron oran equivalent treatment.This protection will withstand 90 hours saltspray test toSS-DIN 50021, ISO/R 1456-1970, ASTM B 117-90.2 Stainless SteelSpring steel stainless steel fasteners are made of austeniticstainless steel type X12.Cr Ni 17-7 (AISI 302, Standard no. 1.4310, according toDIN 17224).ERICO ® ’s CADDY ® components C20, C30, C45, 5000, 6000and all CR clamps are made of austenitic stainless steeltype X5 Cr Ni 18-10 (AISI 304, standard n° 1.4301).ERICO’s CADDY profiles, the associated fixing componentand the strut nuts are normally made of standardn° 1.4571.FIXOBAND and buckles are made of austenitic stainlesssteel type AISI 201. ERICO fixing products made ofstainless steel are intended for indoor and outdoor usein non-corrosive environments or where only mildlycorrosive conditions apply.NOTE:Because stainless steel is susceptible to stress corrosionin chloride environments, it is forbidden to use theseERICO fixing products in chloride environments(indoor swimming pools, etc.).When selecting ERICO stainless steel products for acorrosive environment, it is always best to consult witha corrosion engineer and, if possible, conduct tests inthe environment involved under actual operatingconditions or ask ERICO for engineering approval andload rating.3 Hot Dip Galvanized ZincProtection against corrosion is provided by hot dipgalvanizing in accordance with DIN 50976+Zn-D,NFA 91-121; NEN 1275.The zinc layer thickness is 50-70 micron (350-500 g/m 2 ).The finish can be used for indoor and outside applicationsand is suitable for use in humid and mildly corrosiveenvironments.5 Nylon7 CADDY ® COATCADDY ® COAT is a patented multi-layer systemconsisting of a zinc phosphate coating for optimumadhesion and creep resistance covered by a nominal20 microns of a lead-free cathodic electrocoat finishfor exceptional corrosion resistance.9 Polyurethane (PU)10 Polyamide (PA)Injection moulded thermoplastic. 10+ long glass fibreshave been added to enhance strength and thermalstability.Not recommended in chemically aggressive environments.UV-stabilized in black colour.11 Polyvinylchloride (PVC)Extruded or injection moulded thermo-plastic.Economical price, but only moderate strength characteristics.UV-stabilized. Good chemical resistance.These materials are intended for corrosive environments.However, there are chemicals that may affect one ormore of these materials.
