96ABSTRACTS OF SIKH STUDIES : JAN-MARCH <strong>2006</strong> / 537-38 NSWe must mention here that Sardar Yadvinder Singh effected theAmerican Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s membership <strong>of</strong> the ISC.Later, he visited Amritsar and featured in various discussion with theAkal Takht Jathedar Sahib, advocating the cause <strong>of</strong> the ISC.Other speakers who addressed the gathering were Sardar MilkhaSingh Brar from Australia, Sardar Ajaib Singh Mann from Alberta(contributed to IOSS), and Sardar Ujagar Singh Gill from Chicago.All found the Constitution <strong>of</strong> the ISC to their liking and advocatedappointment <strong>of</strong> Panj Piaras in the Executive Committee after ensuringtheir commitment to the cause.The culminating session Chairperson, Bibi Kulwant Kaur,Chairperson, Mai Bhago Brigade, Patiala, then summed up the issuesand praised the quality <strong>of</strong> the various presentations. She advocated alarger participation by women. Like Dr Harnam Singh Shan, she, too,felt that Chandigarh should be the Headquarters <strong>of</strong> the ISC. Sheexhorted youth to enthusiastically join the ISC and work for its success,and voluntered her own services towards propagating the ISC. Finally,she presented a book by Sardar Kesar Singh Mand <strong>of</strong> the UnitedKingdom to the IOSS.This ended the first day’s proceedings <strong>of</strong> the International <strong>Sikh</strong>Convention on a very high note. It was indeed a thrilling session, witha house full audience listening most attentively to the voices <strong>of</strong> eminent<strong>Sikh</strong>s from all corners <strong>of</strong> our country and the wide world.CONCLAVE – NOVEMBER 13, 2005(Chairperson : Dr Sukhmandir Singh, Stage Secretary : Bhai AshokSingh)In this session, Giani Jarnail Singh Sidhu from Australia read outpaper on <strong>Sikh</strong>ism. He quoted many instances from <strong>Sikh</strong> history toprove that the <strong>Sikh</strong>s are a very virile and strong community. Heaccepted the need for a global organisation like ISC and gave it fullsupport on behalf <strong>of</strong> his parent organisation.Giani Kartar Singh Sidhu from Canada said that he had reviewedthe draft Constitution <strong>of</strong> ISC in detail and whole heartedly supportedit and recommended it to be adopted. However, he sounded a note <strong>of</strong>warning that <strong>Sikh</strong>s are not united, and stressed that unity is vital toprogress which can be achieved if we are loyal to the global <strong>Sikh</strong>
