People at large and local sangats in particular havewelcomed it with enthusiasm. We are confident that the SGPC aswell as the DSGMC will soon throw their tremendous weight in itsfavour to ensure a glorious future for the Panth. This is the need ofthe day. People expect them not only to join this historic effort, but tosupport it whole-heartedly and lead it. They have nothing to lose andeverything to gain in terms of feedback and appreciation fromenlightened sections of the community, and gratitude of the masses. We wish to remind the managing committees of thousands ofgurdwaras all over the world and other big and small Sikh organisationsto join the Confederation and play an effective role in the decisionmakingprocess. That is the only way the voice of Sikh people can beexpressed and the doctrine of Guru Granth – Guru Panth implemented.A special responsibility devolves on the Sikh intelligentsia. Hereis an opportunity for them to join this mighty effort as members and tocontribute their mite so that the community can have the benefit oftheir scholarship and experience. The various advisory councils ofthe ISC have to be manned by experts in the respective disciplines, inorder to make the organisation a think-tank of the Panth in the realsense. To facilitate exchange of views, and to elicit new ideas, it hasalso been decided to hold an International Seminar at Chandigarh on8-9 th April, 2006, in which scholars can present their papers. A separatenotification in this regard appears on pages 122-123 of this issue.¤JOIN THE ISC AS MEMBERS AND SERVE THE PANTH
