We too are facing similar challenges today and he expectedthe ISC to help meet these challenges through collective leadership.Sardar Hardip Singh, Member SGPC, while supporting the efforts <strong>of</strong>the organisers, desired harmonious relations between the ISC andexisting <strong>Sikh</strong> organisations <strong>of</strong> importance such as the Akali Dal andSGPC. He visualised many hurdles that the ISC would face inestablishing itself, but was optimistic that these would be overcomeas long as we propagated the major tenets <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sikh</strong>ism and combatedthe challenges <strong>of</strong> modern time.Others who blessed the occasion and uttered words <strong>of</strong> supportwere Brig Gurdip Singh, Sardar Karamjit Singh from Ludhiana, SardarKashmir Singh, youth worker from Patiala, Sardar Karam Singh RajuIAS (retd). Sardar Shamsher Singh from USA said that he has goodrapport with many gurdwaras in USA & Canada, he will motivate themto become the members <strong>of</strong> this central <strong>Sikh</strong> organisation. Dr KharakSingh assured the sangat that the ISC would carefully steer clear <strong>of</strong>political affiliations, and work for the welfare and development <strong>of</strong> theglobal <strong>Sikh</strong> community. The ISC would provide vital feedback to theSGPC regarding the problems <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sikh</strong>s all over the world. It wouldrender intellectual inputs to the <strong>Sikh</strong> political leadership, and try andinitiate a process wherein all <strong>Sikh</strong> political parties present a unitedfront in our homeland and also globally. Gen Kartar Singh assuredthat the <strong>Sikh</strong> Maryada would be totally preserved while revising theConstitution <strong>of</strong> the ISC and in its implementation. Individuals andtheir egos would have no place in the ISC. Finances would be strictlycontrolled and utilised most effectively. He exhorted our Gurdwarasand Institutions to send support and join the ISC.Giani Harinder Singh, President, Sri Guru Kendri Singh Sabhaconclusively assured full support in all respects to the efficientfunctioning <strong>of</strong> the Secretariat <strong>of</strong> the ISC. He termed this day as ahistoric day.
