Craigslea students colourthe streets of Brisbane<strong>with</strong> “mobile artwork”More than 100 Brisbane primary school studentsmade Australian “art history” on Friday, 15 Februarywhen they created potentially the country’s largest andmost colourful mobile art – all in the name of charity.Craigslea State School students, including some whohave cerebral palsy, painted a Brisbane City Councilbus in all the colours of the rainbow for the League’sannual ‘<strong>Colour</strong> <strong>Your</strong> <strong>Day</strong>’ appeal.Acclaimed Queensland artist, Kendall, designed thebus artwork and guided students in their work.Another well known local artist and Brisbane DeputyMayor, Cr David Hinchliffe, saw red – and just aboutevery other colour – when he helped Kendall and 100plus kids brighten up the Brisbane City Council bus.The bus was donated by Council to launch the ‘<strong>Colour</strong><strong>Your</strong> <strong>Day</strong>’ appeal, which has attracted the support ofapproximately 1000 businesses statewide.The Cerebral Palsy League would like to thank APNOutdoor who assisted <strong>with</strong> the stickering of the busand Dulux for the donation of the paint.Scheduled 18-24 February, ‘<strong>Colour</strong> <strong>Your</strong> <strong>Day</strong>’ aimedto raise more than $100,000 for the Cerebral PalsyLeague.If you would like to donate to the League phone1800 819 086 or visit www.cplqld.org.auPage - League News Volume 32 Edition 1, <strong>2008</strong>


State Client Consultative CommitteeHello and welcome to the year in which the Leaguewill celebrate its 60th birthday.I wonder if the <strong>people</strong> who attended that inauguralmeeting all those years ago thought that the Leaguewould become the dynamic organisation it is today.It would be remiss of me not to pay tribute to theirforesight and determination in those early years.I would like to acknowledge out-going CEO BruceMilligan for his outstanding contribution to the Leagueover nearly eight years. I would also like to welcomeAngela Tillmanns as the new CEO, and I look forwardto working <strong>with</strong> her in the future.In this historic year the State Client ConsultativeCommittee (CCC) has planned a series of regionalworkshops. These workshops aim to facilitatediscussions relating to the client consultation processin your region. Attendees are also encouraged to joinus for morning tea to celebrate the League’s 60thbirthday.The CCC is looking forward to liaising <strong>with</strong> the Parentsand Guardians Association to organise a BrisbaneWorkshop that brings together clients and theirfamilies.In other news, the State CCC representatives continueto be involved as advocates and consults in a range ofprojects relating to their portfolio duties.Particularly, I would like to congratulate our colleagueJohn Rynn who along <strong>with</strong> Rebecca Daniloff has beeninvited to present “Training Together - Incorporatingthe client perspective in the training of carers” at theISAAC conference in Montreal in August <strong>2008</strong>. State CCC regionalworkshops go on tourTHIS year the State ClientConsultative Committee (CCC) willhit the road and travel to regionalQueensland centres for informationCCC workshops.Workshops will incorporatesome elements of the traditionalconvention and a morning tea<strong>with</strong> key League staff to celebratethe League’s 60 years of serviceprovision in Queensland.The first regional events arescheduled for Hervey Bay onTuesday, 8 April followed byRockhampton on Thursday, 10 April.A Gold Coast event is planned for themiddle of the year, <strong>with</strong> a Brisbaneworkshop scheduled for Saturday,9 August. Servicesavailable are:PhysiotherapyOccupational therapySpeech pathologyPsychologyAdults and children can access Capability Queensland PrivateTherapy Service. Therapy sessions can take place at the clinic or athome.
