Borchi® Gen ND plusWetting and dispersing agentDescriptionBorchi ® Gen ND plus is a wetting and dispersing agent recommended above all for use in solvent-borneand solvent-free industrial coatings. Because of its 100 % active ingredient content, it is equally suitable forwaterborne systems such as emulsion paints and water based pigment concentrates.Characteristic DataAppearanceHigh-viscous, colourless to yellow liquidDensity 1.090 - 1.130 g/cm³ DIN 51757 (20 °C)Non-volatile content 50 - 65 % ISO 3251 (2g, 3h, 105 °C)Viscosity Max. 6000 mPa·s ISO 3219 (A) (20 °C)PropertiesDue to its amphiphilic and ionic structure, Borchi ® Gen ND plus has good wetting and dispersing propertieseven at low dosages and especially with inorganic pigments. It also shortens pigment grinding timesappreciably. The gloss, color intensity and leveling properties of the applied coating system are significantlyimproved.Furthermore, Borchi ® Gen ND plus prevents the settling of pigments and fillers during storage and acts asan anti-gelling agent when basic pigments and acidic binders are used. For the formulation of waterbornepigment pastes, a combination of Borchi ® Gen ND plus with Borchi ® Gen 12 or Borchi ® Gen DFN isrecommended. In systems using metal based catalysts or driers, excessive Borchi ® Gen ND plus might cause a prolongedopen time and pot life due to complex formation with metal ions. Furthermore this interaction improvessignificantly brightening of white and clear coatings based on alkyds and unsaturated polyesters.ApplicationsBorchi ® Gen ND plus is mostly used in oil paints, alkyd paints, reaction paints and chlorinated rubberpaints.Page 1 of 3

Borchi® Gen ND plusBinder systems Pigment pastes Pigment pastesaqueoussolventbornePUREPAcrylatAlkydUVNCresin-freeresin baseduniversaltitanium dioxideinorganicorganiccarbon black: particularly recommended application: suitable applicationDosageTo achieve optimal efficiency, Borchi ® Gen ND plus should be incorporated slowly under agitation into themill base prior adding the pigments. In resin-free systems the additive will be admixed with the solventrespectively water. The pigments should be added after homogenous distribution of the additive.Recommended amounts of Borchi ® Gen ND plus in % (supply form) based on pigment content:Titanium dioxide: 3 - 5%Inorganic pigments: 10 - 15%The required addition rate depends on pigment particle size and surface area. The optimum amount shouldbe determined individually by pre-trials.Subsequent additions of Borchi ® Gen ND plus to improve lighten colour and viscosity stabilization ispossible. Experience has shown that the required additions lie between 0.1 and 0.5%, calculated on the totalcoating.StorageProtect from the effects of weather and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C.Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.SafetyPlease refer to our safety data sheet for information relating to product safetyPage 2 of 3
