Uninstalling and Upgrading the Avamar Exchange ClientINSTALLING/UNINSTALLING AVAMAR EXCHANGE CLIENT4. Click Configure.You may be prompted for credentials to run the Avamar service in thefollowing circumstances:• When the UNC path is specified for var folder. The following messagewill be displayed: Please enter credentials to enable Avamarservice to access network shared var folder.• When the Exchange message plug-in is installed. The followingmessage will be displayed: Please enter credentials to enablemessage level backups and restores.When installation is complete, a message box will confirm the configurationof the client is complete, and will list the plug-ins that were configured.After you click OK, the setup dialog box is displayed, and the Install buttonwill be greyed out.IMPORTANT: If the Var folder is on a network share, youmust start the backup cluster agent from an account thathas full access permissions to the folder where Avamar logfiles are written.Uninstalling and Upgrading the Avamar Exchange ClientUnlike other platforms, previous versions of Avamar Exchange Client software donot have to be explicitly uninstalled before a new version can be installed. You canrun the install package of the newer Avamar Exchange Server Client you want toinstall on the client host that already has the older version of Avamar ExchangeServer Client installed.You can also use the Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs featureto completely uninstall the Avamar Exchange Client.IMPORTANT: Upgrading the Avamar Exchange Client softwarecauses the Avamar Client Agent service to revert tologging in as the local SYSTEM user account, rather thanAvamarBackupUser. You do not perform the uninstall stepson every node in the cluster.NOTE: It is recommended that all cluster nodes are operationalduring the reset process.1. Log on to the active node in the Windows cluster with an account that usesAdministrator-level privileges.2. From the avs\bin directory (usually C:\Program Files\avs\bin), runAvamarClusterConfiguration.exe.The Setup - Cluster Backup Agent for Windows dialog box appears.3.
