Configuring an <strong>Exchange</strong> Server 2003 Server for Message Level Backups and RestoresINSTALLING/UNINSTALLING AVAMAR EXCHANGE CLIENTIMPORTANT: A unique user name is required for each<strong>Exchange</strong> Server. If you are backing up more than one<strong>Exchange</strong> server within an Active Directory forest, you mustuse a different Windows user account for each <strong>Exchange</strong>server. This is because each user defined in Active Directorystores an <strong>Exchange</strong> mailbox as an attribute. It is thereforenot possible for <strong>Avamar</strong> to use one user account to backupmore than one <strong>Exchange</strong> server. This limitation applies tothe <strong>Exchange</strong> Message Plug-in only.Perform the following steps on one node in the cluster:1. Log into the <strong>Exchange</strong> server using an administrative user account.-or-For <strong>Exchange</strong> clusters, log on to any node in the cluster.2. Select Start > All Programs > <strong>EMC</strong> <strong>Avamar</strong> > Backup <strong>User</strong>Configuration Tool.The <strong>Avamar</strong> Backup <strong>User</strong> Configuration Tool appears.The <strong>Exchange</strong> Server, Storage group, and Mailbox store list boxes willalready be filled, and the message log displays the message “Sharedlibrary mapiaxion loaded successfully.”3. Specify a user name or use the default <strong>Avamar</strong>Backup<strong>User</strong> name.4. Specify a new password.5. Review the settings for <strong>Exchange</strong> Server, Storage group, and Mailbox store,and change if you don’t want to use the defaults.6. Click Check.Since the MAPI user account is not configured correctly, the message logshould display messages that the <strong>Avamar</strong>Backup<strong>User</strong> existence test anduser mailbox failed.7.
