Proline Promass 83 Modbus RS485Safety instructions1 Safety instructions1.1 Designated useThe measuring device described in these Operating Instructions is to be used only for measuring themass flow rate of liquids and gases. At the same time, the system also measures fluid density andfluid temperature. These parameters are then used to calculate other variables such as volume flow.Fluids with widely differing properties can be measured.Examples:• Oils, fats• Acids, alkalis, lacquers, paints, solvents and cleaning agents• Pharmaceuticals, catalysts, inhibitors• Suspensions• Gases, liquefied gases, etc.• Chocolate, condensed milk, liquid sugarResulting from incorrect use or from use other than that designated the operational safety of themeasuring devices can be suspended. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damages beingproduced from this.1.2 Installation, commissioning and operationNote the following points:• Installation, connection to the electricity supply, commissioning and maintenance of the devicemust be carried out by trained, qualified specialists authorized to perform such work by thefacility's owner-operator. The specialist must have read and understood these OperatingInstructions and must follow the instructions they contain.• The device must be operated by persons authorized and trained by the facility's owner-operator.Strict compliance with the instructions in the Operating Instructions is mandatory.• is willing to assist in clarifying the chemical resistance properties of parts wettedby special fluids, including fluids used for cleaning. However small changes in temperature,concentration or the degree of contamination in the process can result in changes of the chemicalresistance properties. Therefore, can not guarantee or accept liability for thechemical resistance properties of the fluid wetted materials in a specific application. The user isresponsible for the choice of fluid wetted materials in regards to their in-process resistance tocorrosion.• If carrying out welding work on the piping, the welding unit may not be grounded by means ofthe measuring device.• The installer must ensure that the measuring system is correctly wired in accordance with thewiring diagrams. The transmitter must be earthed unless special protection measures have beentaken e.g. galvanically isolated power supply SELV or PELV (SELV = Save Extra Low Voltage;PELV = Protective Extra Low Voltage).• Invariably, local regulations governing the opening and repair of electrical devices apply.Issue/Rev. 0.2 (12/12) MN0M030 • Page 5
