Proline Promass 83 Modbus RS485InstallationOrientation Promass F, E, H, I, S, P, O, XMake sure that the direction of the arrow on the nameplate of the sensor matches the direction offlow (direction in which the fluid flows through the pipe).Vertical:Recommended orientation with upward direction of flow (Fig. V). When fluid is not flowing, entrained solids will sink down and gases will rise away from the measuring tube. The measuring tubes can be completely drained and protected against solids buildup.Horizontal (Promass F, E, O):The measuring tubes of Promass F, E and O must be horizontal and beside each other. When installation is correct the transmitter housing is above or below the pipe (Fig. H1/H2).Always avoid having the transmitter housing in the same horizontal plane as the pipe.See next chapter - special installation instructions.Horizontal (Promass H, I, S, P, X):Promass H, I, S, P and X can be installed in any orientation in a horizontal pipe run.Promass H, I, S, P: See next chapter - special installation instructionsPromass F, E, OStandard, compactPromass F, EStandard, remotePromass FHigh-temperature,compactPromass FHigh-temperature,remotePromass H, I, S, PPromass XAbb. Therefore the unit is installed horizontally, adapt the sensor position to the fluidproperties:• Suitable to a limited extent for fluids with entrained solids. Risk of solids accumulating• Suitable to a limited extent for outgassing fluids. Risk of air accumulatingIn order to ensure that the permissible ambient temperature range for the transmitter (ä 133)is not exceeded, we recommend the following orientations:• For fluids with very high temperatures we recommend the horizontal orientation with thetransmitter head pointing downwards (Fig. H2) or the vertical orientation (Fig. V).• For fluids with very low temperatures, we recommend the horizontal orientation with thetransmitter head pointing upwards (Fig. H1) or the vertical orientation (Fig. V).Issue/Rev. 0.2 (12/12) MN0M030 • Page 17
