BD P700 Blood Collection System
for Plasma GLP-1 Preservation
Studies show that BD P700 enables
significant increase in GLP-1 recovery (Table 1).
BD P700 is a new protein preservation blood
collection tube that contains a proprietary Dipeptidyl
Peptidase IV (DPP-IV) protease inhibitor. The tube
is especially suited as the blood collection tube
of choice for assays that require quantitation and
measurement of the preproglucagon-derived glucose
regulatory peptide, glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1).
Tube Size 13 x 75 mm plastic tube
Draw Volume 3 mL
Closure translucent lavender BD Hemogard shield
Separator none
Sterilization Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) 10 -6
Anticoagulant 5.4 mg K 2 EDTA (spray coated)
Additive
Table 1. Comparison of plasma GLP-1 levels obtained from whole blood samples
collected into BD P700 and K 2 EDTA Tubes. Blood was drawn directly from
12 subjects into BD P700 and K 2 EDTA evacuated tubes at room temperature.
GLP-1 was measured using a GLP-1 (7-36)-Amide competitive enzyme immunoassay.
